Warriors

(1979)

Director:
Walter Hill

Plot:

Cyrus, the leader of the most powerful gang in New York City, the Gramercy Riffs, calls a midnight summit for all the area gangs, with all asked to send nine unarmed representatives for the conclave. A gang called The Warriors are blamed for causing gang violence at theaters, but now it looks as highly stylized and pulpy as Hill intended. The plot finds a New York gang having to cross the territory of rivals in order to get to their own 'hood. And so The Warriors begin their long journey from the Bronx back to Coney Island. The second-in-command, Swan, takes charge, though the hot-headed Ajax openly voices his desire to be acting gang warlord. The Warriors slowly cross the dangerous Bronx and Manhattan territories, narrowly escaping police and other gangs every step of the way.

The Warriors are mistakenly accused of killing a big time gang leader named Cyrus. Soon they have every gang in the city out to get revenge. The Warriors must make their way from one end of New York to their turf on the other side of the city.

New York City. Home to 7,000,000 people, they work, play, and have fun by day. But at night the city is run by ruthless street gangs such as; The Furies, The Boppers, The Hi-Hats, The Lizzies, The Turnbull AC's, The Gramercy Riffs and The Warriors. One night at an all gangs meeting, the leader of the Riffs, Cyrus, makes a speech and creates a plan to unite all the gangs of the city. One gang strong enough to overpower the police. But suddenly he is shot and a gang called The Warriors are framed by Luther, leader of the Rogues. Now they have to return to Coney Island, escaping from 20,000 policemen and 100,000 sworn enemies. They got one way out. They got one chance. They've got one night. THE WARRIORS

The major New York gangs declare a truce so they can meet in the Bronx. When a gang leader is killed at the meeting The Warriors from Coney Island are wrongly fingered for it. The truce is off and home is a long train ride away.

In the night they run, in the night they hide, in the night they fight, fight for their lives. On the run and accused, alone and far from home the Warriors need the cover of night, and their wit and courage, to race against the tide of Armies that hunt for their skins. From the Bronx to Coney Island, they struggle for survival, to prove their innocence and redeem themselves once more as the Warriors, as the best.

The leader of New York's biggest street gang declares a truce, and gangs from all 5 boroughs venture to the bronx for a clandestine meeting. When an assasination takes place, one gang stands wrongly accused and the truce is off. Now they must fight they're way back home, because a whole city is gunning for - The Warriors!

Cyrus, the messianic leader of the largest gang in New York, declares a truce and calls a summit with all the major gangs in attendance. During the meeting, he expresses his wish to unify all the gangs into one large super-gang. During the summit, Cyrus is assassinated and the murder is pinned on a member of a gang known as the Warriors. Now, all the other gangs are hunting the Warriors down before they can prove their innocence. "CAN YOU DIG IT?"
