Product Description In the search for a lost civilization, a young film crew is hijacked by a hunter obsessed with a mythic, man-eating snake. Genre: Feature Film-Action/Adventure Rating: PG13 Release Date: 3-SEP-2002 Media Type: DVD
Amazon.com This giant-man-eating-snake-in-the-jungle thriller definitely scores points as a guilty pleasure, especially with Jon Voight hamming it up as the monster-poacher. He makes life miserable for a team of documentary filmmakers on the Amazon river. Anaconda is one of those movies that exists for no other reason than to give computer animators a chance to strut their stuff with a new digital beastie, and they don't disappoint. It's a lot of fun to watch the mega-snake scarf down its victims and--in the case of Voight--regurgitate 'em right back up again, all covered in gooey digestive juices. You might wonder why Eric Stoltz, who plays Dr. Steven Cale, showed up for a role that requires him to be off-screen for most of the movie, but hey--when it comes to big snake movies, you might as well put your brain on hold and sit back for the slimy ride. --Jeff Shannon

Anaconda January 3, 2010 Arnita D. Brown (USA) A filmmaker and an anthropologist travel to the Amazon to shoot a documentary about a mysterious local tribe, but discover far more than they planned. This movie is very fast pce because of it's cool action scenes and awsome special effects. I like this movie.
The greatest most terrible movie ever December 4, 2009 Austin Woolsey Anaconda... A terrible movie. But worth getting on blu-ray, why? Jon Voight, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson (before famous) oh and did I mention jon voight playing a snake hunter named serone with his counter part MATEO! Jon Voight's amazing one liners alone are enough to watch this terrible movie. For example, "Maybe some other time." A simple line that in text form seems unimportant. However with Voight's Serone twist, this simple line becomes hilarious gold (if there is such a thing). This movie is so ridiculous that it is hilarious... and those are my favorite movies. Surprisingly enough, this movie actually looks pretty good on blu-ray and the upgrade makes jon voight's performance even more enjoyable. I recommend that if you haven't seen this movie, you have to see it at least once. Is it worth the buy on blu-ray? Yes it is. But wait till the price drops a little more. They used to play this movie all the time on tv. Now they don't play it as much. So get it and enjoy the HD version of a classic film, Anaconda.
THE GOLD STANDARD November 1, 2009 B. This river's a dangerous place, Anaconda a big snake lives there... September 17, 2009 Craig Edwards (By the sea in NC) Anaconda A lot of critics tripped over themselves trying to point out that this is "Jaws up a river." Ha! They missed it! It's actually a thinly disguised remake of The Creature from the Black Lagoon, with a few plot twists tossed in. A documentary film crew heads up a South American river system to track down one of those lost tribes we hear a lot about in movies like this. Along the way they rescue shady guy Jon Voight, who proceeds to manipulate the crew into taking him up a tributary he wants to explore for some strange reason. Eventually, the ship's crew find themselves menaced by a huge anaconda snake, which Voight is determined to capture for the huge financial rewards it will bring. But will anyone survive long enough to cash in? This isn't a bad movie, really, just kind of by-the-numbers. The actors are adequate, with the main liability being the digital effects used to bring the snake to life. When it is represented by an animatronic model it looks okay, but as soon as the camera widens out and the snake goes into digital mode it looks phony as heck. But the movie zips along at a good clip, and would serve to entertain on a rainy afternoon. Just don't expect too much, and you should be satisfied. Also starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Kari Wuhrer, Owen Wilson, and Eric Stoltz.
