Product Description As the Civil War rages on, the four sisters of the March family struggle to grow up without the guiding hand of their loving father. Genre: Feature Film-Drama Rating: PG Release Date: 3-JUN-2003 Media Type: DVD
Amazon.com essential video The flaws are easily forgiven in this beautiful version of Louisa May Alcott's novel. A stirring look at life in New England during the Civil War, Little Women is a triumph for all involved. We follow one family as they split into the world, ending up with the most independent, the outspoken Jo (Winona Ryder). This time around, the dramatics and conclusions fall into place a little too well, instead of finding life's little accidents along the way. Everyone now looks a bit too cute and oh, so nice. As the matron, Marmee, Susan Sarandon kicks the film into a modern tone, creating a movie alive with a great feminine sprit. Kirsten Dunst (Interview with the Vampire) has another showy role. The young ensemble cast cannot be faulted, with Ryder beginning the movie in a role akin to light comedy and crescendoing to a triumphant end worthy of an Oscar. --Doug Thomas

Wonderful Holiday Classic January 30, 2010 Michael G. Cowan (Spokane, WA) This is a great and touching version of the classic story. Beautifully filmed, a joy to watch. I will usually watch this twice a year around Thanksgiving and then again at Christmas. Also if your a soundtrack for movies fan I highly recommend this for your collection.
Wonderful Movie January 30, 2010 This movie was enjoyable, sweet, and wonderful. I love how it sticks right to the book and the actresses and actors are just great. I enjoyed every minute of it and was bummed when it was over because I wanted to see more!! I can't say enough about this movie except for that it's absolutely beautiful.
lovely work of art, wonderful story January 12, 2010 Cappel81 (St. Louis, MO) I am watching the ending of the movie right now as I write this. I have seen this version of Little Women many times over the years since it's release. I always loved this movie. Now having my own lovely marriage and family, I find the story and this movie to be deep in meaning.
Love and joy in the family are timeless themes. It's something that binds all of us no matter what century the story is written and the reader/viewer lives.
Great movie EXCELLENT DVD QUALITY December 23, 2009 Karla Chapa (MX) This is a great movie for an amazing book, I was very pleased with the price and quality from the DVD, its a classic every family with little girls should have!
Came as promised November 4, 2009 A.B. (Maynard, MA) The DVD I ordered came as promised and in good condition. However, the plastic it was wrapped in was all dusty and got some dust inside the DVD case. Then again, it was an older movie from the 90's probably stored somewhere for a while.
