Amazon.com essential video This sprawling epic of bloodshed and excess, Brian De Palma's update of the classic 1932 crime drama by Howard Hawks, sparked controversy over its outrageous violence when released in 1983. Scarface is a wretched, fascinating car wreck of a movie, starring Al Pacino as a Cuban refugee who rises to the top of Miami's cocaine-driven underworld, only to fall hard into his own deadly trap of addiction and inevitable assassination. Scripted by Oliver Stone and running nearly three hours, it's the kind of film that can simultaneously disgust and amaze you (critic Pauline Kael wrote "this may be the only action picture that turns into an allegory of impotence"), with vivid supporting roles for Steven Bauer, Michelle Pfeiffer, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Robert Loggia. Universal's special edition digital video disc includes a documentary about the making of the film that features numerous interviews and several deleted scenes. --Jeff Shannon

Great Product... March 4, 2010 Pasta Lover (San Diego, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This item came exactly as described and shipped super fast. I'd recommend this seller and would do business with them again.
Scarface February 8, 2010 Charles H. Greene Jr. (Tiburon, CA USA) Scarface is a "classic" film directed in a modern way by Brian De Palma. How can you go wrong with Al Pacino with Michelle Pfeiffer in one of her first movies. Definitely, personal film library material.
A must-own for movie buffs of all kinds January 31, 2010 Baxtermom What can I say? Its a classic, one-of-a-kind move that I have watched many times and have never gotten tired of....the reviews that have come before me really say it all, so this is short--one of my five favorite movies of all time.
Very different mob film January 28, 2010 Robert J. Carroll (Glenside, PA) If you think that this film is about Al Capone, well then think again. It's about a Cuban that came to America during the time that Castro put all the Cuban criminals on boats and sent them to America. It's very graphic, both in dialog and violence. Pacino gives, as usual, a great performance.
Scarface January 4, 2010 Arnita D. Brown (USA) After years of diplomatic silence between the United States and Cuba, Castro opens the port of Mariel Harbor, Cuba, to thousands emmigrating to the United States in search of the American dream. Shrewdly, Castro also unlocks the overpacked prisons, allowing hordes of criminals to join the refugees. Tony Montana, a small time hood, is one of them. In Florida, Montana connects with gangster Frank Lopez, and guns his way through the sun washed streets of Miami where he finds power, wealth and passion. He kills Lopez and marries his mistress, Elvira. Montana, better known as "Scarface," soon becomes the leader of a bloody cocaine-smuggling empire but at a terrible cost to his sister, Gina and his loyal friend, Manny. However, like that of others before him, Montana's reign is brief and a violent end is guaranteed as rival gangster compete to become the next drug lord. Those who have not seen this movie be forewarned. It is one of the most graphic, vulgar movies...well...pretty much I think ever made. definitely not for the weak of heart, unless you can handle chainsaws and point-blank shotgun kills. IF that's your thing, then this is your movie.
