Product Description FLETCHER REEDE IS A FAST-TALKING ATTORNEY AND HABITUAL LIAR. WHEN HIS SON MAX BLOWS OUT THE CANDLES ON HIS FIFTH BIRTHDAY, HE HAS JUST ONE WISH, THAT HIS DAD WILL STOP LYING FOR 24 HOURS. WHEN MAX'S WISH COMES TRUE, FLETCHER DISCOVERS THAT HIS MOUTH HAS SUDDENLY BECOME HIS BIGGEST LIABILITY.
Amazon.com Recovering from the box-office disappointment of The Cable Guy, Jim Carrey gave his fans what they wanted in this good-natured and frequently hilarious 1997 comedy. In a vehicle tailor-made for his verbal and physical antics, Carrey plays a lawyer whose penchant for prevarication is tested when his son makes a birthday wish that his father would tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth for 24 hours, so help him God! Without his daily defense of white lies, selfish fibs, and outright deception, the helpless lawyer finds himself blurting uncensored truths with total, and totally outrageous, candor. The script is clever enough to milk the premise for all it's worth, but it's Carrey's energy--particularly in a hilarious bathroom scene where he literally mugs himself to delay a trial--that keeps the movie going to its sappy happy ending. The supporting cast includes Jennifer Tilly, Cary Elwes, and Amanda Donohoe. --Jeff Shannon

love the movie June 3, 2009 L. D. Lee (Elkton, MD United States) Love the movie. was trying to replace a old VHS. but had to throw this DVD out. Didn't realize it wouldn't work in my video player and it would have cost me more to send it back.
My Favorite Jim Carrey Film February 21, 2009 julie The Plot Focuses on Fletcher, a Hard-Working Dad Who Lies At Moments. It's His Son's 5th Birthday Party and He Blows Out The Candles on His Candle, He Wishes His Dad Can't Lie For One Whole Day, and It Comes True. For The Whole Day Fletcher Tells The Truth, and Afterwards Figures Out He Should Be Better Off Telling the Truth More Oftten. Jim Carrey (Who Has Been In A Number of Films Such as Bruce Almighty (Full Screen Edition), The Mask (New Line Platinum Series), and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective) Was Great and Belivable as The Hard-Working Dad Flether, and Has A Good Number of Funny Lines and Moments in The Film. Justin Cooper (Who Plays The 5-Year-Old In The Film) Was Brilliantly At His Acting and Cute Without Being To Cutsey. The Plot of The Fim (Simalar To Carrey's New Film Yes Man (Single-Disc Edition)) Is Absolutly Brilliant and Laugh-Out-Funny. The Film's Moments When Fletcher Works At The Court as A Lawer at The 3rd Act of The Film and Figures Out Somone Besides Him Has Been Lying. Overall, Any Fan of Carrey's Films Such As Bruce Almighty (Full Screen Edition) and Others or Just For A Laugh-Out-Loud Hart-Warming Time Should See Liar Liar Overall Rating-5/5
The truth and nothing more the truth! December 12, 2008 Hiram Gomez Pardo (Valencia, Venezuela) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A famous and successful lawyer accustomed to lie as part of his profession, will be tested by his own son, who requests him just one detail: To tell the truth for just one day. That cruel fact will make this lawyer assumes the price for being sincere with all the predictable consequences. Funny metaphor that will delight you, although since the middle of the film the initial impact be lessening.
An Awesome Film!!! November 30, 2008 PUMPKIN MAN Jim Carrey is awesome and extremely hilarious as a lawyer named Fletcher Reede, who lies constantly to his son, his co-workers, and at court. When he doesn't show up for his son, Max's 5th birthday, Max makes a wish that for a whole day, his dad couldn't lie. Throughout the whole next day, Fletcher tries to lie, but he can't. When he tells the truth, it sometimes get him into trouble. If you love comedy, and Jim Carrey, you'll love LIAR LIAR!!!
Silly, silly fun. July 27, 2008 ADRIENNE MILLER (TENNESSEE) Liar Liar starring Jim Carrey was another hit for the mega star. His pyshical comedy is evident in this comedy, he just knows how to work his face and body. This film isn't perfect but it's fun and harmless. Enjoy!
