Amazon.com essential video Ancient curses, all-powerful monsters, shape-changing assassins, scantily-clad stewardesses, laser battles, huge explosions, a perfect woman, a malcontent hero--what more can you ask of a big-budget science fiction movie? Luc Besson's high-octane film incorporates presidents, rock stars, and cab drivers into its peculiar plot, traversing worlds and encountering some pretty wild aliens. Bruce Willis stars as a down-and-out cabbie who must win the love of Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) to save Earth from destruction by Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg (Gary Oldman) and a dark, unearthly force that makes Darth Vader look like an Ewok. --Geoff Riley

Bit grainy, but better than DVD quality I guess February 4, 2010 Yagga
This is not a movie review, this is primarily about the quality of the latest Blu-Ray remaster for this movie.
It really isn't all that much better than the DVD quality, kind of gets grainy a lot in scenes. I was disappointed after the amazingly crystal clear blu ray version of Galaxy Quest.
Well the upside I suppose is I get to watch one of my favourite movies of all time in slightly better than DVD quality.
A Masterpiece February 3, 2010 A. L. Haskett (Los Angeles) Yes, I know, masterpiece might be hyperbole. But this is the first DVD I bought when I got my first HDTV and the blu ray version was the first I bought when I got my first blu ray player. Why? Because it just looks and sounds so damn good. Add in a fun adventure/love story and you got yourself a, um, well, masterpiece.
A video roller coaster ride January 21, 2010 Billie K. Fuller (Hervey Bay, QLD, Australia) After a slow, but interesting, start this movie grabs you and doesn't let you stop to think about anything else until it is over 2 hours later. It is not till later that you realize that the plot is full of holes big enough to drive a space ship through, but that doesn't matter. It is a video and audio onslaught to your senses and one of my favourite all time movies since I first watched it on pay TV 10 years ago. I own a copy of the 1st DVD release from 1998, which was for its time one of the highest quality DVDs available. Two subsequent DVD releases, one a super-bit, have each been better as the technology matured, but this Blu-ray release blows them all away.
I couldn't find fault with the picture quality on my 50" plasma, and all 6 speakers were going continuously. If you like top quality fun buy this movie and watch it over and over.
BLU RAY VERSION January 15, 2010 AVID MOVIE WATCHER (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
BLU-RAY VERSION IS WORTH BUYING. I DON'T NEED TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE MOVIE, OTHERS ALREADY HAVE. BUT, NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE TELL YOU IF IT IS WORTH UPGRADING FROM YOUR REGULAR DVD TO BLU-RAY. THIS ONE IS WORTH IT. COLORS ARE STUNNING AND SOUNDS GREAT.
Great Product January 7, 2010 Eric R. Tsuji (Honolulu, HI USA) Exactly what the description was, I like this movie although it is a little old it's even better in blue-ray!!!
