For fans and newcomers, this boxed set holds a great collection, including all four great movies. The first in the series, Batman (1989), and arguably the best of the four movies, exudes the moodiness of the Dark Knight's character. Tim Burton's direction and Michael Keaton's rendition of Batman are an electrifying combo. Together they capture the sinister atmosphere of Gotham City and Batman's darkness. Jack Nicholson as the fiendish Joker and Kim Basinger as the resourceful and gorgeous Vicki Vale lend their charm. Three years later, in 1992, Burton and Keaton reunited for Batman Returns. This time our pointy-eared hero has to combat two villains: Danny DeVito as the disturbed and freaky Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. In Batman Forever (1995), Joel Schumacher gave his direction to the story with Val Kilmer under the cape. Kilmer keeps the moodiness but adds a little panache to his rendition. His archenemies this time are the Riddler (Jim Carrey) and Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones). Luckily, he enlists the help of the Boy Wonder, Robin (Chris O'Donnell). The final movie in the series, Batman & Robin, is great eye candy, and this time Schumacher returns with George Clooney as the leading man and Chris O'Donnell again as Robin. Together Batman and Robin battle the icy Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger), with a little help from Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone). Delve into the Gotham City world with the Dark Knight to protect you, and don't forget to make lots of popcorn for this Batman marathon. --Samantha Allen Storey

5 out of 5 stars Batman Anthology   January 27, 2010
    Sir Morgue
This is a great set loaded with special features. I mean LOADED. Warner Bros did a great job
putting this together. I'm very satisfied with my purchase from Amazon. I got it so cheap I may buy
the set again on Blu ray. That's how happy I am. :)

5 out of 5 stars 1 of the coolest box sets ever part 2 on Batman Anthology Blu Ray version   December 22, 2009

I got this collection 4 Christmas's ago it is an awesome set of movies & extras I recently reviewed all 4 of these movies along with the newer movies with Bale. The set has Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever & Batman & Robin unfortunately. Starting off with the 89 movie this 1 is my favorite along with The Dark Knight there the Batman movies I would watch the most. The extras on disc 2 are great hearing about pre production & post production cast & the music videoes scream awesome 80's goodness. Batman Returns, was darker & considered mean spirited but it's a good sequel the extras also are great more behind the scenes stuff it even has The Bat_The Cat_The Penguin from 1992 a documentary that was for the movie & the Face To Face music video So Batman & Batman Returns along with the extras make it worth the purchase if you grew up with these movies like I did or read the comic like I did when you were little or still read them.

    5 out of 5 stars Batman 89-97   December 5, 2009

If your a Batman fan, then this is a great set for you to own. The old Batman dvds did have a good picture and sound; However, I notice alot of my old snapcase dvds have amazing sound and picture but I digress. This dvds might be a step down in terms of picture quailty, which might shock alot of people but it's true. The bonus dvds are all set up the same-music videos, heros and villians of the films, a making of feature, and a little history of Batman. They are all very well done.

Batman (1989): This film is an all time classic. Tim Burton does a great job directing, Jack Nicholson is awesome as The Joker, and the film is very enjoyable.

Batman Returns: It has some good parts but I hate The Penguin as a villian. Never liked this movie but rewatching it again soon.

Batman Forever: Joel Schumacher replaces Burton as director and Robin makes his debut. Jim Carrey as The Riddler and Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face are good villians but they over do it. I don't really have a problem with this movie and enjoyed it overall.

Batman and Robin: People and critics hate this movie. The Dark Knight returns to his 60's roots as this movie is full of color rather then being dark and the dialouge is bad. I'm surprised they dont put wham! bam! during fight scenes. Clooney makes a weird choice for Batman but I love Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. I love Arnie in 80's action fare and this movie was no different. I enjoyed this movie and I don't consider it a bomb like everyone else.

This is a very good set. I remember it use to be 80+ dollars but I found it for 16 bucks, brand new. A must for Batman lovers, even if you own the orignal dvds.

Batman and Batman Returns are two of the best Dark Knight films ever, right up there with the new Dark Knight movie.

For anyone who is a fan of the old Batman series this a good collection. It contains bonus materials of all four movies that you cannot get when you purchase each movie individually.
