Product Description A ROMANTIC COMEDY CENTERING AROUND A WOMAN LIVING TWO DIFFERENT LIVES AS SHE EXPLORES ALTERNATE SCENARIOS OF LOVE AND LIFESTYLE. THE FILM IS SAID TO DELVE INTO MODERN RELATIONSHIPS, THE CHOICES ENCOUNTERED DAILY AND THE INTRIGUE OF THE ROAD NOT TAKEN.
Amazon.com Nice concept, shaky execution--that about sums up the mixed blessings of British actor Peter Howitt's intelligent but forgivably flawed debut as a writer-director. It's got more emotional depth than most frothy romantic comedies, and its central idea--the parallel tracking of two possible destinies for a young London professional played by Gwyneth Paltrow--is full of involving possibilities. It's essentially a what-if scenario with Helen (Paltrow) at the center of two slightly but significantly different romantic trajectories, one involving her two-timing boyfriend (John Lynch) and the other with an amiable chap (John Hannah) who represents a happier outcome. That's the film's basic problem, however: The two scenarios are so romantically imbalanced (one guy's a total cad, the other charmingly sincere) that Helen inadvertently comes off looking foolish and needlessly confused. Still, this remains a pleasant experiment, and Howitt's dialogue is witty enough to keep things entertaining. It's also a treat for Paltrow fans; not only does the svelte actress handle a British accent without embarrassing herself, but she gets to play two subtle variations of the same character, sporting different wardrobes and hairstyles in a role that plays into her glamorous off-screen persona. --Jeff Shannon

Sliding Doors July 4, 2009 Beverly J. Barnett (Oregon) Sliding Doors [Region 2] I really enjoyed watching this movie. I bought it after borrowing it from the library. Talk about love!! Yes, I would call it a chick flick.
I was really impressed. June 1, 2009 Nadz I ordered this movie from HMV on March 13, they said should be about 2-3 weeks and still haven't received it... today is June 1st. I ordered it from this store, they said I should get it in about 7-11 days and I got the movie about 4 days later. I was very impressed to say the least. The movie was very well wrapped and exactly as they said it would be. Would definitely order from them again!!!
Every Woman Must See This Movie February 19, 2009 Dr. Jane Branam (Charlotte NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie shows how sometimes a small choice can make a huge difference in your life. It also should be required watching for all ladies, because it can make you examine how you are letting people treat you. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in dating and relationships. great fun February 15, 2009 Kim Horton (Shreveport, LA) What a neat hook! Using different hair styles to clue you to different story lines. Most amazing I thought this was a fun idea for a story line. Great tension development. The good guys are great, the meanies are as well. Loved it.
3 stars out of 4 January 24, 2009 One-Line Film Reviews (Ann Arbor) The Bottom Line: Overpraised in some quarters and at times a tad on the contrived side, Sliding Doors is nonetheless a fresh and original movie with appealing performances by Gwyneth Paltrow and John Hannah in the lead; when it comes to romantic comedies, you could do a lot worse.
