Product Description WHEN IT COMES TO LOVE, CHARLIE MACKENZIE HAS ALWAYS HAD BAD LUCK. BY NOW HE HAS MET HARRIET MICHAELS. SHE'S SMART, SEXY AND CRAZY ABOUT CHARLIE. HARRIET MIGHT HAVE A FEW LITTLEIDIOSYNCRASIES, BUT SO WHAT? AFTER ALL THE HORRIBLE WOMEN IN HISPAST, WHAT'S THE WORST SHE COULD BE? AN AXE MURDERER?
Amazon.com Mike Myers's first feature role without his Wayne's World wig is a performance at odds with the best interests of the movie. Myers plays a single guy who always manages to find something seriously wrong with each of his girlfriends. His new love (Nancy Travis), a butcher, may be the perfect woman, except for one thing: she might be a "black-widow" killer who prefers dispatching husbands with a sharp instrument. Robbie Fox's original script has a fine shape and strong, black-comedy material within it. But Myers creates unnecessary dissonance by playing a variety of characters (including an irascible Scotsman like the one he often played on Saturday Night Live) and accenting his skills as an improvisational comic (such as impersonating the soothing cadences of a massage therapist). It's not that Myers isn't funny doing all that, but it has nothing to do with the movie. Directed by Thomas Schlamme (Miss Firecracker). --Tom Keogh

The hidden gem in Mike Meyers movies January 7, 2010 Laura Mayer This is my second favorite Mike Meyers movie right behind Wayne's World. In this movie Meyers plays the roles of the main character Charlie and his father. The scenes with Charlie's family are funny enough to make the whole movie worth while. Nancy Travis is excellent in this one too. Lot of Meyers-esque humor. The main idea of the plot is that Charlie can't seem to get very far in a relationship with a woman before he finds what he thinks is a fatal flaw in her personality and he breaks it off. So he tries to stick it out with Nancy Travis' character, but then it turns out she may be a serial killer. Very funny movie. Very underrated. If you like any of Meyers' work or if you like Travis on Becker, check this movie out, and you won't be disappointed.
Better than some say December 28, 2009 M. Anderson (Seattle, WA USA) This review is in response to the negative Nans whose postings almost turned me off from watching this little gem. Here's a movie that pretends to be nothing but fun. It has a passel of top-rate actors: Alan Arkin, Phil Hartman, Amanda Plummer, Charles Grodin..... playing small parts. but to the hilt. I say to the naysayers, put your feet up and give it another try.
So I Married an Ax Murderer September 21, 2009 Michael A. Timko (Pennsylvania, USA) This is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. Pay attention to a small things going on around the main charecters.
Best Mike Myers comedy September 12, 2009 M. Gamboa My personal favorite, this movie has lots of laughs, a great plot and the lovely Nancy Travis. What else do you need?
