Amazon.com essential video This well-intentioned but strangely cold tale concerns an emotionally repressed Southern belle (Julia Roberts) who separates from her husband (Dennis Quaid) after discovering he is an unabashed philanderer. Pressed by her dominating father (Robert Duvall) into reconciling with her spouse, Roberts's character chafes against so much male control over her destiny. Defended by a fiercely independent sister (a catchy performance by Kyra Sedgwick), the heroine develops the nerve to plot her own course in life while her mother (Gena Rowlands) finds the gumption to throw her own mate out of the house. The script by Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise) is intelligent but hardly clear, and direction by Lasse Hallstroem (Once Around) can't keep Khouri's unfocused scenes and uncertain purpose from dissolving like sand castles in the rain. --Tom Keogh
Product Description Grace has a picture-perfect life. And it goes dizzyingly out of focus the day she discovers her husband Eddie has been unfaithful. Julia Roberts headlines this acclaimed movie that aims for the heart and funnybone - and scores a bull's eye. In her best screen role yet, Roberts is Grace, whose reaction to the infidelities of Eddie (Dennis Quaid) turns the lives and loves of the people around her into something like falling dominoes.
Robert Duvall, Gena Rowlands, Kyra Sedgwick and others in "the years best ensemble of characters" (Jack Matthews, Newsday) join Roberts for this juicy, truthful story written by Callie Khouri (Thelma and Louise) and directed by Lasse Hallstrom (What's Eating Gilbert Grape?). Folks are talking about Grace. You owe it to yourself to see why.

a marriage on the rocks May 24, 2009 R. Bagula (Lakeside, Ca United States) I'm a real Kyra Sedgwick fan, but this movie really doesn't do any of the actors a good turn. The plot is kind of silly about a rich girl's marriage to of all things a banker while they are training horses for a riding show. Just a pretty strange movie where father certainly doesn't know best.I think Randy Quad could have done as good as Dennis Quaid in this role and might have been more believable?
Love this movie April 15, 2009 S. Miller What a great movie. It's funny, it's sad, and it has a little bit of everything in it. I've been looking for it in the stores, but since it's been out for a while, it's hard to find. I'm so glad Amazon had it. Thanks!
LOVE THIS MOVIE! March 23, 2009 E. Jones One of my all-time favorites. A story about how it all falls apart when the to-do list trumps actual living. A story of relationships - between a man and wife, between parents and their children, between siblings. This movie will make you laugh - Kyra Sedgwick's character has brutal honesty that could make even Miss Manners giggle. It is so easy to love the characters that you will cry right along with them. But in the end, you are left with a feeling of hope. When life falls apart, sometimes the hidden blessing is the opportunity to rebuild and become the person you always dreamed you'd be.
don't know what you mean March 19, 2009 Catherine Bevers This is the third time I have been asked to review this product and each time I said that it was good and everything about it was good. Catherine Bevers It should be five stars not two as indicated on this review.
Something to Talk About March 8, 2009 Karen F. Hersam I was quite satisfied with the condition of the DVD. It was in excellent condition, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.
