Amazon.com As the triumphant start of a trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring leaves you begging for more. By necessity, Peter Jackson's ambitious epic compresses J.R.R. Tolkien's classic The Lord of the Rings, but this robust adaptation maintains reverent allegiance to Tolkien's creation, instantly qualifying as one of the greatest fantasy films ever made. At 178 minutes, it's long enough to establish the myriad inhabitants of Middle-earth, the legendary Rings of Power, and the fellowship of hobbits, elves, dwarves, and humans--led by the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and the brave hobbit Frodo (Elijah Wood)--who must battle terrifying forces of evil on their perilous journey to destroy the One Ring in the land of Mordor. Superbly paced, the film is both epic and intimate, offering astonishing special effects and production design while emphasizing the emotional intensity of Frodo's adventure. Ending on a perfect note of heroic loyalty and rich anticipation, this wondrous fantasy continues in The Two Towers (2002). --Jeff Shannon

What More Can I Say? February 8, 2010 Snoots Dwagon (USA) Usually I write lengthy reviews, praising or condemning a work. In this case, a lengthy review is totally unnecessary.
This is hands down one of the best movies ever made (all three). A "reasonably" faithful rendition of the original work with some original bits thrown in for spice. It simply rocks. What more needs be said? The only way to know, is to watch it. : )
Excellent Purchase February 7, 2010 TheLadyForever (North FL) My husband is a fan, and I got it for him as a birthday present. The marketplace seller provided great communication and service. My husband loved the trilogy b/c of all the extra scenes. He felt like the bonus scenes added context, continuity, and entertaining background to the overall story. He has watched it a few times and says it's the best b-day present he's gotten in a long time! He hasn't watched the commentary as of yet.
amazon never lets me down February 5, 2010 Steven L. Santulli (Chico, CA) This is an out of print item and very hard to find. Amazon had the source and a fair price. The set was shipped quickly and arrived on time.
Fantastic Movies February 5, 2010 JSCornerstone My sister had the first two movies and she let me borrow them. I fell in love with them because they were like an MMORPG in a movie. There are three movies and they are all great. I once had the extended versions of the movies and there was a lot more footage in them, but I felt the original ones were better because they were shorter and kept out insufficient scenes. The movies are terribly long, but it is worth it. I had a dream about Sauron and it was a nightmare. So don't watch these movies when you go to sleep, or you will have unpleasant nightmares. Other than that, these movies are fantastic and worth the money!
Casi perfecto, pero igual sigue siendo es muy bueno!!!! January 31, 2010 Andres Andrade Coronel Saludos! Si no fuera solamente porque el disco de la primera pelicula (fellowship of the ring) no trae subtitulos en español, esta colección seria perfecta, las otras 2 peliculas (the two towers y the return of the kings) si traen subtitulos en español, aparte los demas programas (documentales, especiales y demás) son muy buenos, 100% recomendado para los amantes del buen cine, en especial los que disfrutan de escuchar el audio original de las peliculas!!!
