Guilty as sin December 23, 2008 Elizabeth A. Hesch I bought this to replace a VCR tape, I wanted a DVD. It is a good movie
A very excellent legal thriller! December 14, 2008 Roger J. Buffington (Huntington Beach, CA United States) Rebecca De Mornay and Don Johnson both turn in superb performances in this gripping legal thriller. Johnson plays the role of a thoroughly despicable human being accused of murdering his wife. De Mornay is his defense attorney, experiencing what all attorneys fear--the Client From Hell. More would be telling, but this is a really gripping film. De Mornay turns in a really fine performance, and I like her a lot anyway; she has great presence on the silver screen. Don Johnson did a really good job playing the cad; I had never seen him in this kind of role before, and he pulled it off very well. The film moves at a fast pace, and there are no dead spots in the middle where the story drags. It engages the viewer from the first scene to the last, with no letup at all. My only criticism of the film is that I found that there were really not much in the way of surprises--you can see where this one is going pretty much throughout. But that is all right; this is still a very gripping film. This film shows that we should really be seeing (and should already have seen) more of both Rebecca De Mornay and Don Johnson in films to come. Both actors seem underused.
DON JOHNSON DELIVERS October 24, 2005 Laser Point 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Don Johnson plays a dangerous sociopath who enjoys planning the execution of the women he uses while they think they are using him. He lures a beautiful well connected attorney into defending him against a murder charge by creating evidence that links her to the crime. So here's the review: Johnson delivers a stunning portrayal of a man who is barely sane but perfectly effective in his manipulations of people, specifically women. Every scene in which he reveals his character is riveting in its complexity. Without Johnson this is an entertaining movie with a competent cast. But Johnson's perfomance is a master class in acting. If you want to see how it's done, get the DVD.

A ripoff of another movie August 6, 2004 J. A. For 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
This was a good movie, EXCEPT that the basic idea was done eight years earlier. The movie "Jagged Edge" starred Glen Close and Jeff Bridges and was about a lawyer (Close) who defended an accused wife killer (Bridges). She has doubts about his innocence and finds out the truth and then of course, he tries to kill her.
