Before making Batman, director Tim Burton and star Michael Keaton teamed up for this popular black comedy about a young couple (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin) whose premature death leads them to a series of wildly bizarre afterlife exploits. As ghosts in their own New England home, they're faced with the challenge of scaring off the pretentious new owners (Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones), whose daughter (Winona Ryder) has an affinity for all things morbid. Keaton plays the mischievous Beetlejuice, a freelance "bio-exorcist" who's got an evil agenda behind his plot to help the young undead newlyweds. The film is a perfect vehicle for Burton's visual style and twisted imagination, with clever ideas and gags packed into every scene. Beetlejuice is also a showcase for Keaton, who tackles his title role with maniacal relish and a dark edge of menace. --Jeff Shannon

i recieved this dvd on blu-ray and its not widescreen as the description says its pan and scan also the bonus cartoons are poor quality wish warnerbro would put both wide and pan and scan on the same dvd like they do the standard deff. blu-ray has the room for both they can hold 50 gig i heard and they should have the whole cartoon series on there too.If ya like hd and widescreen don't buy this.wb has been doing the pan and scan on the blu-ray and releasing it cheap but not releasing it in widescreen lately.

A lot of people have seen this movie, but when watched on BlueRay the quality of the special effects seems much better. I'm not saying they re-did the CGI, but the existing CGI was cleaned up perfectly, making watching this movie a whole new experience and very pleasant to the eyes. Tim Burton used very bright colors over dull backgrounds which works quite well.

BLU-RAY VERSION IS WORTH BUYING. I DON'T NEED TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE MOVIE, OTHERS ALREADY HAVE. BUT, NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE TELL YOU IF IT IS WORTH UPGRADING FROM YOUR REGULAR DVD TO BLU-RAY. THIS ONE IS WORTH IT. COLORS ARE STUNNING AND SOUNDS GREAT.

A dead couple attempts to scare a modern family out of there house with the help of a bio-exorcist. This movie makes me laugh every time I see it. This movie has amusing twist on a standard ghost story. This is Tim Burton's hilarious, skeptically humorous comedy about the afterlife of two honeymooners.
