| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com This winning 1990 comedy stars Arnold Schwarzenegger in an initially self-deprecating role as a grizzled, big-city cop who goes undercover as a small-town kindergarten teacher to nab a killer. One of the best films of director Ivan Reitman (Dave), this comedy (with some thriller elements) went a long way to further soften and broaden Schwarzenegger's image after Reitman worked with him in the gentle Twins. But Kindergarten Cop is genuinely touching, the story of a hard man who visibly finds his true passion and soul by leaving behind the rot of urban crime. Penelope Ann Miller is a delight as the love interest, Pamela Reed is wonderful as Arnold's cop partner, old pro Carroll Baker is quite nasty as the villain's evil mother, and Linda Hunt--whose diminutive stature makes for quite a contrast with Schwarzenegger when they share scenes--is entertaining as a tough principal. Upon its release, some people assumed the title meant this is a good movie for little kids, but it isn't. The DVD release features production notes, biographies, highlights, theatrical trailer, Dolby sound, full-screen presentation, and optional French and Spanish soundtracks. --Tom Keogh

Where is the widescreen version? June 14, 2009 Phil Flyer Hey movie companies, read the customer's reviews. Give the customers what they want = better sales and that = more $, And happy customers who shop for your products. I have just passed on two movies that I was pretty set on buying, up until I saw it was full screen only. I then read the reviews and found out not only were they full screen, the video quality was also poor. From now on I will look closer at which company I buy movies from. Have you lowered standards and going for quantity not quality? Thanks
Absolutely delightful film...successful blend of different genres July 26, 2008 C. J. Sturz (NC United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Crime drama, romance, comedy, CUTE kids (the comedic and cute kids elements often blended together in a *kids say the darndest things* format) - all of these parts make up a satisfying and sweet-natured film! Loved it.
Love this movie! June 20, 2008 A. Johnson (Idaho) Great movie! Some of the acting is a little cheesy (early Schwarzenegger), but overall clean, funny, and good for the whole family. Saw this movie when I was younger, and have looked for it in movie stores with no luck. But Amazon has it for a good price on their site.
Kindergarten Cop March 13, 2008 Pete Urlacher (Spokane, WA USA) We ordered this movie to show our 5 yr old granddaughter. The reason was to show her how to react to strangers. It did help her to understand what we were getting at. Do not go with people she didn't know or feel safe about, and to let those around her know things weren't right. the cops are coming... to a TV screen near you January 4, 2008 B. E Jackson (Pennsylvania) Back in the early to mid 90's, family films such as this one were extremely popular. Everyone seemed to love them, too. Of course, as time goes on, people eventually get an urge for something different, and that's exactly what happened. However, looking back, Kindergarten Cop is easily a very pleasant film that holds up nicely, mostly because it's just a simple straight-forward family movie with a nice and easy storyline. You can easily follow along without getting annoyed at any difficult-to-grasp storyline twists or anything like that. It's funny since I'm an adult now and thinking how back in the day Arnold used to be considered one of the baddest guys in town. Now, however, you can see there's plenty of action stars who look more impressive. That's not to take away from his acting abilities. I'm just pointing out he doesn't look as intimidating to me now. Sure, his muscles were fairly big in the movie, but we've all seen much bigger. When Arnold walks into a classroom filled with a bunch of 5 year olds, you know it's going to be quite funny. What's amazing to me is how the children seemed so smart for their age. They were aware of some adult situations that many kids wouldn't be aware of until they reach 3rd grade. Also, more often than not, the story will switch directions into a bunch of single women finding Arnold attractive as the Kindergarten teacher, and either hitting on him, or trying to look impressive when around him. These are good scenes as well. Of course, it's a family movie, and looking at some of the children in the Kindergarten class you will recognize a few of them that went on to become even bigger stars. A great movie.
