Amazon.com The best stuff in this ridiculously conceived sequel to Brian De Palma's groundbreaking '70s classic are the occasional, too-brief flashbacks to De Palma's groundbreaking '70s classic. They occur in the mind of Sue Snell (Amy Irving, shamelessly reprising her role), the only main character left alive during Carrie's prom revenge freakout. After a brief stint in an insane asylum, Snell is now a therapist at a suburban high school and is currently counseling Rachel Lang (Emily Bergl). Rachel isn't like other girls. When Rachel gets really mad, she moves things with her mind. Rachel's been really mad lately, because her best friend jumped from a rooftop in the first 10 minutes of this movie. Even though there's absolutely no development of this relationship, don't doubt it: we know they're best friends because they have matching tattoos. Rachel's friend lost it because she was the latest victim in a fun game that members of the football team play off the field in which they keep a running count of how many girls they can seduce, using a rating scale based on appearance. Of course, there's a nice one, Jesse (Jason London), who feels guilty about playing the game and falls for Carrie, er, Rachel. Everything appears to be changing for Rachel, but Jesse's friends have other plans. Snell knows what's up, however, and it's pretty funny watching her explain it to Rachel: "I've been through this movie before" is essentially what she says, but Rachel doesn't want to hear that she's not an original character, that she's a cheap, slightly hardened and revised '90s rip-off with no autonomy. It makes Rachel want to move things with her mind. --Dave McCoy

A very Under-rated Masterpiece... February 13, 2010 Ghoste Kruegar x (Maryville,TN) This movie is awesome. To Hell with all the stupid, imaginationless critics who panned this horror film. TRY This! seriously, it is a good film that has unfortunantly become a lost diamond. Awesome!
If Looks Could Kill!! February 5, 2010 C. Davis (Kansas City) I personally enjoy this installment as much as I do the original film. The Rage Carrie 2 lives up to my expectations as a sequel that picks up nearly more than 2 decades later, now we get to see Carrie's half sister Rachel take the lead.
The set up of the film is pretty much similer to the original except for some minor detail changes, for one Rachel lives with foster parents because her mother seems to be a bit crazy.
But the overall film is interesting enough to watch and to be entertained by the conclusion towards the end.
The Rage Carrie 2 is like adding a gothic twist to a classic story.
I loved it February 1, 2010 B. E Jackson (Pennsylvania) I can honestly say, I can't remember the original Carrie at the moment I'm writing this review, and I probably haven't seen the the film in at least 20 years. Keep that in mind while I write up my thoughts on the Rage: Carrie 2. I can't compare this film to the original.
Emily Bergl nails her performance as a troubled teenager with the incredible power to move objects with her mind. This ability however, wasn't used excessively, which is *exactly* how it should've been used. Abusing such a magical ability would have done more harm than good as far as storyline development is concerned and would have made the story totally unbelievable. Used in small doses however, was much more effective.
Emily's character kept her telekinesis power to herself most of the time, except for when a guidance counselor tried helping her, and accidentally made the girl upset, prompting her to use the power.
The ending of Carrie 2 made any moment of nonsense or boredom you may have experienced beforehand TOTALLY worth it. She goes absolutely nuts, and you have to see what she does with her ability, and what causes her to use it.
As far as the amount of scares is concerned, truth be told there weren't that many. A couple VERY weird scenes had some graphic and shocking shots, and that's about it. Honestly, this entire movie was very weird to me. It had a pacing that was entirely unpredictable, but somehow made sense by the conclusion. I really enjoyed it.
The only complaint is that after a certain point there was a bit too much of a focus on the relationship building between the teenager and her boyfriend which led to a few slightly overlong romantic scenes, but that's a VERY minor flaw.
Overall, very good movie.
Stephen King December 11, 2009 T.Worton (Mason,Il. USA) This movie is not as good as the other, but I had to have for my collection
Love this movie...why the hate? May 18, 2009 Bobby (Chicago) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I really liked this movie, I made no attempt to compare it to the original Carrie or the remake. If you put all that aside you have a more modern teenage...highschool revenge story which was done really well. The effects at the end were well done and the cast I thought was well chosen. Don't overthink it...just enjoy...
