Call them "Grumpy Old Goodfellas," old mobsters who trade in their rods for a retirement home. Fast-talking Richard Dreyfuss is the nominal leader of the quartet of retired Jersey wiseguys, and thick-headed softy Dan Hedaya, silver-haired lady's man Seymour Cassel, and Burt Reynolds, an enforcer with a pacemaker, round out the group. When their Florida apartment house threatens to go condo with young, upscale tenants, they flex their creaky muscles and scare off investors with a devious bit of mob theatrics. Their success spirals out of control, and soon they're up to their toupees in blackmail, murder for hire, a homicide investigation by a cop who just may be Dreyfuss's character's long-lost daughter (Carrie-Anne Moss), and a mob war with a Hispanic drug lord. Jennifer Tilly costars as a scheming stripper, and Lainie Kazan is terrific as a brassy widow. The script, by Kingpin cowriter Barry Fanaro, flirts with leering sexual humor and outrageous gags while turning unrepentant killers into a cute and cuddly bunch of snappy-dressing codgers. Leave it to director Michael Dinner to transform that into a warm, sweet, good-natured film that explores the way the aged lose dignity in their later years and celebrates the strength of four guys who draw on their skills, their courage, and their spirit to take their dignity back. --Sean Axmaker

The idea of aging, retired wiseguys having adventures in Miami is a hoot. I especially liked Burt Reynolds character. I wish more people would have the opportunity to see this funny movie.

An action film in which old timers, ex baby boomers and other senior citizens who are more or less trying to live in various varicose-infected institutions can project themselves and identify with the main heroes who are just the same as them, old timers who are more or less trying to survive and have some fun in a fun-less varicose-cursed institution in Florida. A touch of Jewish-ness, a dose of sexual fascination, a couple of pairs of boobs, a lot of denuded breasts and chests, but no more than that, a little star of a dumb drug lord who is trying to shine in a world where all the sunshine has retired, and you have it. A funny film for an afternoon of enjoyment at the old people's home as an alternative to checkers or bridge. It is true there are some funny elements, like the arsonist rat or the real true skeleton of the lady next door burned in the arson of her house and that carries the dog tag of her little identity, made in Taiwan. Enjoy it and don't expect to remember it one hour later, except if you already have Parkinson's or Alzheimer's. Then the recollection would come from the back of your brain.

I thought this movie was great! So much fun watching these guys interact with one another. And Danny Hedaya! Great! They really knew what they were doing when they put these four together. My husband and I will be watching this one again!

American audiences need more movies like "The Crew." The cast played their parts perfectly. The story was funny & light-hearted. It is a truly enjoyable movie. No drugs, no blood & guts, no sex - great for most of the family to watch & have a few laughs.

Having read some very good reviews about this movie. I decided to purchase a copy! O-K we have moved on & times change, however the plot is a good one the players just do not perform to the script. Not least the main players are supported by the supporting cast to such a degree that it is they who make the script work.O-K I am English but I have a sense of humour unlike this movie Sorry!!!
