The talents of John Turturro, Lili Taylor, and Will Patton are wasted on this pointless, "quirky" film. There's a particular subgenre in American film of eccentric characters leading eccentric lives, generally written and directed by people who don't actually know anyone remotely eccentric but feel that their own lives are too ordinary to make a movie about; the result is both dull and dishonest. All Revved Up is about a teacher (Taylor) whose car breaks down and who goes to a dishonest mechanic. Meanwhile, a writer for a nature magazine (Patton) seems to be having some kind of nervous breakdown or depressive withdrawal, which is somehow related to fondling gecko lizards. A welder (Turturro) is in love with a bank teller to whom he has never spoken. There's a subplot about a car-theft ring that holds a little more interest than the shambling scenes about the main characters, but not much. The dialogue is redundant and ineffective, the editing is sluggish, and the visual style is banal. Movies like this give independent film a bad name. --Bret Fetzer

This is by far the best movie I have ever seen. The actors were simply amazing. Both John turturro and Lili Taylor give heart warming performances. Will Patton should have been nominated for an Acadamy Award for his role as a retarded person. This is a must see. You will not be dissapointed. (I weld and you know how that goes. (Are things sticky with you guys. YOU LOOK STIFF-
GO AND BUY THIS MOVIE RIGHT NOW- YOU WILL THANK ME-
    BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME

3 out of 5 stars Kinda sucks you in   August 21, 2002

Well the marketing department did their job. The cover is a joke. The only thing that is accurate about that is the actors names. The movie is slow, but at the the same time, you kinda get sucked into the characters. The acting isn't great, but at the same time, you can suspend your disbelief. A woman is taken for a financial ride by a crooked garage. With the help of some friends (in the last 15 minutes of the 85 minute movie) they get her money back. Bad karma affects the bad guys, and the good guys have a drink. No special effects. The only sports cars you see are parked. Yes, I bought it hoping for some chase seens, but ended up watching the movie because I wanted to see how it ended. Rent it if you want to see a fair drama, buy it because it's inexpensive and has Lili Taylor in it, or pass it by because its not the Gone in 60 secondsish style movie you thought it might have been.

    4 out of 5 stars I liked it!   June 17, 2002

"All Revved Up" was very entertaining. It combined some pretty
unusual character types in a very routine situation (getting
ripped off by a car mechanic). How these unusual characters
react to situations is what's so entertaining. No special
effects, no big car chases, no elaborate sets, just well thought
out dialog and interesting performances by all. All the violence
is appropriate to the story. What I like most is that each of
these characters have real personalities and those personalities are given enough attention
by the writer/director to bring them to life and often remind
me of people I've known. I found myself chuckling often. I
    felt good after this movie.

4 out of 5 stars What does it mean when someone plays with lizards?   May 5, 2002

Don't judge a movie by its cover. This film is nothing like its title or the pictures on the box. All Revved Up seems to describe the emotions of the main character as he finds a woman who still intrigues him once she likes him back. If you're a fan of movies like "Trees Lounge" or "Kicked in the Head"- a kind of quiet study of desperate, strange people -- you'll prob. enjoy it. Worth it for me because of Taylor, Turturro and Patton.

    2 out of 5 stars No Over-Drive...   June 23, 2001

The title "All Revved Up" and the cover with erotic sports cars and 155 mph is nothing more than a movie with no "Over-Drive." The offbeat friends were quirky...really they were quite strange. They became vigilates during the last 15 minutes of the movie...to collect the money paid for car repairs which none were made...the big scam. The biggest scam is to viewer that are expecting high octane and some early action.
