"Evidence" of good filmmaking January 28, 2009 C Wahlman (Merrillville, IN) I have been on a Barbara Hershey movie marathon for a while now, and this may be her best. Based on a true story, this film follows Candy Morrison as she fights for her life when she is accused of killing one of her friends. But things get far more complicated when a rumored love affair and hypnosis enter the story. It is a very well done film that does utilize flashback sequences (which mirrors the construction of true crime books) to engross the audience. I highly recommend this film for an interesting true story that is humanely portrayed by all, although all are outshone by Hershey.
DVD January 17, 2009 Luv2garden (usa) This movie is based on a true story. It's very good, there's a little more "flash-backs" than I like in a movie, but you need to see them to get the whole story.
I Love This Movie! February 27, 2008 H. Hall (Raleigh, NC USA) It's very morbid but this case fascinates me. I know it IS a true story. I remember seeing this movie when I was 12 for the first time, yes I said 12. Since then I've seen it at least 15 times and now I own it. I've also read the book about the case, Evidence of Love, and I own that also. The book is very close to the movie itself, surprisingly. At the time I first saw it, I wasn't able to look it up on the internet, but since then I've researched it and that is how I came across the book. If anyone wants to see the real people and the real "victim", you can go to the crime library online and just type in Betty Gore or just search her name and it will come up. There was also a Murder by the Book special recently on court, oops, I mean trutv. I would like to see more about this case and would very much like to know where the people are today! I can't believe there isn't more on this case.
Keeps you glued to the screen from start to finish! November 3, 2007 Vas (CA, USA) This movie will keep you glued to the screen from start to finish. While Barbara Hershey's acting will make you feel like watching the movie more than once, Brain Dennehy creates an air of suspense that will keep you interested in what's about to come next. And, that's when you know you're watching a great movie and that you cannot sleep until you've seen the entire movie!
HERSHEY DOMINATES February 16, 2007 Michael Butts (Martinsburg, WV USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Based on a true story and a book called EVIDENCE OF LOVE, this tv movie is made remarkable by the Emmy-winning performance of Barbara Hershey. She is utterly magnificent in the role of a middle class housewife who brutally murders her ex-lover's wife in a self defensive rage. Hershey superbly captures the many nuances of this seemingly normal woman who commits a heinous deed. Her hypnosis sequence is brutally painful and she pulls out no stops in showing us the hidden rage. Brian Dennehy is equally good as the lawyer who tries to get her out of her terrifying predicament. The movie is impressively done and once again worthy most of all for Ms. Hershey's dynamic presence.
