Amazon.com The Year is 2033. Earth has been clobbered with a comet, civilization has been destroyed, and it hasn't rained in 11 years. Nearly all the water on the planet is controlled by the evil Water and Power company, which is in turn controlled by the even more evil Kesslee (Malcolm McDowell). Who stands in the way? Some mysterious mutants called the Rippers and, of course, Tank Girl. Lori Petty plays Tank Girl, the wisecracking, defiant heart of the movie, as kind of an inner child gone wild. Unfortunately Petty can't quite carry a movie on her own--her zingers frequently fall flat and she seems to be continually worried that we still like her. Luckily there's Naomi Watts as Jet Girl to save the day: smart, shy, and inherently way more appealing than Tank Girl. Tank Girl is based on the comic of the same name, and it is visually an eye-popper. It's worth watching for the insane set and costume designs alone. --Ali Davis

Very funny! June 27, 2009 Denise L. Severino This was the first time I had heard of the movie. It was funny from beginning to end. We bought the movie because my husband wanted it. The movie was better than the title depicts.
new favorite movie June 19, 2009 R. Davidson tank girl is the original riot grrrl! i love this movie & the comic series- and i'm not into comics (well, with the exception of vintage catwoman & tank girl). if you like women who can kick some @s$, take names, look hot in that punk rock devil-may-care way, and survive just about anything - tank girl is for you.
What? April 10, 2009 L. Wilkerson (Massachusetts) What? What's not to like? This is a fave of mine - Lori Petty is just the best and right choice for her character. Science Fiction at its most enjoyable. A cult classic to be enjoyed (and shared) again and again. What are you waiting for? Order it now!
an all-time fave March 22, 2009 Amanda (Montana, USA) I love, love, love this movie!!! Lori Petty, Malcolm McDowell, Ice-T, and all staying true to the comic book/graphic novel nature of the original Tank Girl I fell in love with in junior high. Post-apocalyptic rebels vs the evil establishment, and catch phrases you'll quote for years!
One of the Best March 10, 2009 Richard L. Rank (Utica, MI USA) The 90s were a time for action flicks with leading men who could bench press the collective weight of the cast & crew, the leading ladies had sex appeal that would turn a gay man straight and a straight woman gay, and premises that were so paper thin you almost felt guilty enjoying what you were watching. So that's why in 1995, when this "action flick" dared to be different, and cast a little-known actress in the lead role and a gangster rapper wearing a mutant kangaroo suit as support, with a story based off an obscure British comic, audiences turned their backs and ran. Critics hated it, the creators of the comic series hated it, and the director and star hated what the studio did to it,and somehow, the few people who did see it (it grossed $4 million on a $25 million budget), loved it. The movie is incredibly fast-paced, the visuals are very there, and the story is entertaining at all points. Lori Petty embodies Tank Girl, Naomi Watts shines in a pre-fame role, Malcom McDowell is (as always) the perfect villain, and even Ice-T, in one of his first acting gigs, does pretty well behind Stan Winston's (incredible) make-up. Even as a "comic book movie," which is quickly becoming it's own genre, this stands out as one of the best.
