In Hayao Miyazaki's magical Kiki's Delivery Service, a 13-year-old girl meets the world head on as she spends her first year soloing as an apprentice witch. Kiki (Kirsten Dunst) is still a little green and plenty headstrong, but also resourceful, imaginative, and determined. With her trusty wisp of a cat Jiji (a gently subdued Phil Hartman) by her side she's ready to take on the world, or at least the quaintly European seaside village she's chosen as her new home. Miyazaki's gentle rhythm and meandering narrative capture the easy pulse of real life (even if his subject is a girl flying high upon a broomstick) and charts the everyday struggles and growing pains of his plucky heroine with sensitivity and understanding. Beautifully detailed animation and the rich designs of the picture-postcard seaside town of red-tiled roofs and cobblestone streets only add to the sense of wonder.  A different kind of kid's movie June 28, 2009

I bought this to show to my granddaughter who is 7 although my 4 year old grandson already has this and enjoys watching it. My granddaughter was mesmerized and immediately wanted to see it again. This is a wonderful story and beautifully presented. This is so much better than the typical Disney stuff.

Hello, there! I'm Japanese. This is my first review to amazon.com. I often use amazon.co.jp. This time I would like to get some audio books, I happend to find this DVD. I also looked for a good English movie for my daughter. This DVD is a famous Hayao Miyazaki's story in Japan. So my daughter and I know this story very well. It is easy to understand the story even in English! But main theme music is different from Japanese one. And the region code is different, so some DVD players can't access this DVD.

Althought the video was in good condition, it was in Japanese. I purchased the video for my three year old who saw clips of the "english" version on another movie. The description stated that Kirsten Dunst was doing the voice of Kiki so I assumed that meant I was getting the english version. I guess I can't expect the final product to be what it states when I only paid $1.84. I don't know if I would purchase something again as next time I may not get off so cheap.

The movie was a decent movie, but I like the other ones from Hayao Miyazaki better. This one is pretty good for a younger audience and ok for an older one. I liked it, but not enough to put it in my collection at the moment. Maybe it will grow on me, only time will tell.

I never was into anime until I saw Spirited Away. The writer of that is also the writer/ director of Kiki's Delivery service. It is an awesome, clean Anime' for family enjoyment. My son love's it too. The creator really pays attention to detail it is amazing.
