Amazon.com Angel Eyes is a mature and levelheaded drama about real people with authentic emotions, clawing through their own hurt and confusion toward a hopeful recovery. In a subtly effective performance as Chicago cop Sharon Pogue, Jennifer Lopez is both gutsy and vulnerable, using her badge as a shield against a past incident of domestic violence that left her estranged from her family and alone with her conviction that good deeds are not always rewarded. This leaves her open to the mysterious appeal of Catch (Jim Caviezel), a haunted loner whose slightly creepy demeanor is merely the cautious façade of a man who, ultimately, has as much to offer Sharon as she does to him. They connect--he saves her life, just as she had once saved his--and Angel Eyes proceeds to reveal the true and fateful depth of their love. It seems, at first, that Gerald Di Pego's script will turn in a supernatural direction--or at least a metaphysical one--but it doesn't, and director Luis Mandoki navigates an emotional minefield while acknowledging the walls that people build between themselves and the traumatic events they wish to forget. Catch has kept a deliberate distance between himself and a tragedy that Sharon had witnessed--not a repressed nightmare, but a devastating loss from which he will, eventually, recover. That these two characters should rediscover each other at a time of mutual need is not a contrived coincidence. In Angel Eyes, it's the karmic redemption of two wise and deserving souls. --Jeff Shannon

Angel Eyes January 7, 2010 Arnita D. Brown (USA) Sharon Pogue, a policewoman in Chicago high-crime district, struggles with both the pressures of the job and the pains of an abusive childhood. Her life is saved by Catch, a man who's lost his wife and child in a car accident. Neither can go forward with a romance that's clearly starting to bloom until they resolve painful issues from their tragic pasts. This movie is well-crafted. Jennifer Lopez is the real thing.
very good December 15, 2009 M. Schaaf (Lakeville, MA. United States) Anyone whos does not think Jennifer Lopez can act has not seen this movie. Angel Eyes does not need to hit you over the head to get it point across. Good acting from everyone involved but this is defintly Jens movie from start to finish. She goes from one extreme to the next. And all with sincere powerful acting. This is a movie that i can watch over and over and never get tired of it. Good direction, great acting and a story that gives hope to all of us. Sit back, watch and enjoy the ride. Much better then you would think.
Angel Eyes November 23, 2009 MARCOLA (Somewhere in Time...) This is one of few women actresses I really like.
She can be a lady or she can be rough & tough.
I give this movie a 5 of 5 stars!!
Very Insightful November 1, 2009 Diana J. Solle (Montana) As a Victim Advocate, I found this story to have very truthful elements in it. Sadly, abusers don't think they are in the wrong.
Great Chemistry! July 6, 2009 P. Pierre-Antoine Great plot and pacing. I was surprised at the chemistry between Jennifer Lopez and Jim Caveziel. Well written and balanced, especially the scenes dealing with domestic abuse in the family. I thought I was going to get an original DVD from the movie company, but it ended up being a copy. It was a good copy though. Can't complain.
