Amazon.com Charge your micro-mini cell phones and whip up some orange mocha Frappuccino, 'cuz Zoolander is on the runway, and you're gonna laugh your booty off! Based on a sketch created by writer-director Ben Stiller and cowriter Drake Sather for the 1996 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, Zoolander is a delirious send-up of New York's fashion scene as epitomized by male model Derek Zoolander (Stiller), a dimwitted preener who's oblivious to a Manchurian Candidate-like plot to turn him into a brainwashed assassin. Tipped off by a reporter (Christina Taylor), Zoolander teams with rival model Hansel (Owen Wilson) to foil the poodle-haired fashion designer (Will Ferrell) who's behind the nefarious scheme. The goofy plot's only half the fun; with roles for Stiller's parents (Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara), dozens of celebrity cameos, endlessly quotable dialogue, and improvisational energy to spare, Zoolander is very smart about being very stupid, easily matching the Austin Powers franchise for inspired comedic lunacy. --Jeff Shannon

Lots of lolls January 17, 2010 Nyloo This is my favorite movie of all time. Many of my friendships are based upon this film, and its many memorable quotes. I had to own it - it's one that you can watch over and over again - the jokes get funnier ever time.
Awesome stylistic artistic bliss! September 22, 2009 GameFAN HCGamer (United States) FUNNY MOVIE!! don't buy the negativity... this is one FUNNY film!
even if you hate Wilson or Stiller.... still check it out!
Sporadically entertaining July 17, 2009 One-Line Film Reviews (Easton, MD) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Bottom Line:
Zoolander is somehow considered something of a "classic" comedy when in fact it's a slight, inoffensively bland piece of filmmaking that offers up the occasional chuckle alongside long periods of blah; the title character is funny enough but Will Ferrell's villain is stupid and the movie never really gets you rolling in the aisles, let alone keep you there.
2.5/4
Funny For Those Who Like Absurd Humor July 1, 2009 Craig Connell (Lockport, NY USA) This has to be a movie that people would either laugh their butts off watching, or turn it off and never finishing it because it was so stupid. Fortunately, as someone who loves absurd humor, I was entertained by it. Yes, it's one of the dumber films you'll ever see, but it's supposed to be stupid - a satire on the shallow people and world of male fashion models.
Ben Stiller is outstanding as "Derek Zoolander," the brainless model who's number one. His status is in doubt by newcomer "Hansel," played by Owen Wilson. Stiller, Wilson, Millo Jovovich and Will Ferrell are good at playing weird people, as they do here. But it's all in fun - plus a serious comment about child labor - and the movie is simply to be enjoyed for what it is.
Film fans and celebrity geeks will enjoy all the cameos in here, along with the wild outfits - male and female - and all the goofy looks on the faces, mainly Stiller's poses. In between all the dumbness is some smart satire on several topics dealing with the fashion business.
Just know what you are getting into here, and you should get enough laughs to make it an entertaining hour-and-a-half.
Hilarious.Super Uper Duper Funny March 10, 2009 Jose Lopez (Miami,Florida USA) "Why can't you build a school thats not 1/4 of the size? " or something like that , is one of my favorite scenes, when a model replica of a school is shown. this movie is laugh out loud funny and very stupid funny.
