Based on a sketch created by writer-director Ben Stiller and cowriter Drake Sather for the 1996 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, Zoolander is a delirious send-up of New York's fashion scene as epitomized by male model Derek Zoolander (Stiller), a dimwitted preener who's oblivious to a Manchurian Candidate-like plot to turn him into a brainwashed assassin. Tipped off by a reporter (Christina Taylor), Zoolander teams with rival model Hansel (Owen Wilson) to foil the poodle-haired fashion designer (Will Ferrell) who's behind the nefarious scheme.  Funny For Those Who Like Absurd Humor July 1, 2009

This has to be a movie that people would either laugh their butts off watching, or turn it off and never finishing it because it was so stupid. Fortunately, as someone who loves absurd humor, I was entertained by it. Yes, it's one of the dumber films you'll ever see, but it's supposed to be stupid - a satire on the shallow people and world of male fashion models.
Ben Stiller is outstanding as "Derek Zoolander," the brainless model who's number one. His status is in doubt by newcomer "Hansel," played by Owen Wilson. Stiller, Wilson, Millo Jovovich and Will Ferrell are good at playing weird people, as they do here. But it's all in fun - plus a serious comment about child labor - and the movie is simply to be enjoyed for what it is.
Film fans and celebrity geeks will enjoy all the cameos in here, along with the wild outfits - male and female - and all the goofy looks on the faces, mainly Stiller's poses. In between all the dumbness is some smart satire on several topics dealing with the fashion business.
Just know what you are getting into here, and you should get enough laughs to make it an entertaining hour-and-a-half.

"Why can't you build a school thats not 1/4 of the size? " or something like that , is one of my favorite scenes, when a model replica of a school is shown. this movie is laugh out loud funny and very stupid funny.

The film Zoolander, despite it's lack of juanty musical numbers like 'I Feel Pretty', was better than West Side Story, which I just finished watching and found to be rather preachy and dull, which Zoolander most suredly was not.

This was the last movie we bought on VHS. We quote this movie so often that we finally had to buy the DVD. This is a great role for Ben Stiller, just as famous as his role in Dodge-ball. Owen Wilson rocks the screen as well. Zoolander is a must see for anyone who can appreciate wacky humor. And don't just watch it once...it gets funnier every time. You actually catch things you didn't get the first time. Definitely a favorite in our household of kooks!!
