| Customer Reviews: ELVIS & JUNE March 7, 2009 Nanci C. Brown (CLINTON, IOWA) I really enjoyed watching this dvd. I can honestly say there is a lot of film on elvis I have never seen before on any of the 12 dvd's I purchased about Elvis. It was nice watching him do deep sea fishing. but seeing him relaxing and enjoying his time with good friends and family made it all the more relaxing. You'll ever see Gladys feed her son the Elvis sandwich (peanut butter and banana sandwiches).Any true Elvis fan will enjoy seeing this video.
Elvis before Graceland and Ga ga. May 12, 2006 Pit O'Maley (Alameda, Ca United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Only the archaelogist in us would be interested in the effect of fame, materialism and special treatment on early Elvis. We know how it ended and this wonderful home movie shows what Elvis had before his rise and fall. Gentleness, playfulness and a relaxed sweetness. Just seeing "the King" shooting BB guns with his buddies, doing what all of us did in our teen years and cozying up to his girl was very touching. Perhaps if his buddies could have shown him this early footage in his later life, he might have postponed his sad end. This time-capsule of innocent love and simple pleasures in the lazy 50's should be seen by any aspiring singer or Elvis admirer before reaching for the stars. When you recall his demise after viewing, you will be seriously moved.
Good compliment to the book September 17, 2004 John Aliyetti (Leesburg, VA United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The color film and photos make a great compliment to June's book. It is very interesting hearing June tell the story although "In the Twilight of Memory" contains more detail. It is also very interesting hearing Geroge Klein tell his story as well. I recommend reading the book and then watching this movie to see Elvis in the time before he was influenced by Hollywood and Col. Parker.

I liked this. It's lighthearted and not depressing, unlike other Elvis related DVDs. June seems a great person who would sort Elvis out if they were left alone. A great story of a great summer romance. If you're looking for something of more depth re this then try the book Elvis In The Twighlight of Memory which is brilliant. Why that has not been turned into a movie I don't know, it would be much better than the bland and unitentionally hilarous Elvis and Me. This girl could teach Priscilla how to write a book.
