Product Description The spy kids are back in this highly inventive sequel to the original smash hit. Once again, cinematic multi-tasker Robert Rodriguez (SPY KIDS 2's director, writer, producer, director of photography, editor, and composer) brings his high-octane, technicolor brand of antics and special effects to the screen. This time the kids are a little older and a lot more experienced as they fight to save the world and secure their reputation as the best in town. After proving themselves as top-notch spies like their parents (Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino) in the original SPY KIDS, Carmen and Juni Cortez (Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara) are now at the top of the new OSS kids division. That is, until they meet a new sibling spy team, Gary and Gerti Giggles (Matthew O'Leary and Emily Osment), and their position is threatened. In a race to save the world, the rival spies travel to the Island of Lost Dreams, a world that resembles the Bermuda Triangle, which is populated by fantastical genetically altered creatures, brought to life by the resident mad scientist, Romero (Steve Buscemi). However, on the mysterious island none of the kids' high-tech James Bond-inspired gadgets work, so they must rely on their own cunning and family smarts to save the world. Viewers of all ages will enjoy this delightful sequel full of tongue-in-cheek humor, wacky creatures of all shapes and sizes, and nonstop action.
Amazon.com This delightful sequel to Spy Kids demonstrates once again writer-director Robert Rodriguez's remarkable gift for wild invention. Carmen and Juni Cortez (Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara) are now regular operatives for a spy agency, but a couple of rival spy kids are making their lives difficult. When an important gadget gets stolen, Juni gets blamed and loses his job--but Carmen hacks into the agency computer, reinstates him, and sends them off on a high-security mission to a mysterious island to clear the boy's name. The pace is zippy, every situation is crammed with dazzling eye-candy, and the cast is great--Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino return as the kids' parents, Steve Buscemi plays a crackpot scientist, and Ricardo Montalban comes in as the kids' grandfather. Fans of the classic Sinbad adventure movies will particularly enjoy the elaborate creatures that Carmen and Juni battle on the island. Pure fun. --Bret Fetzer

SpyKids2 Island of Lost Dreams February 18, 2009 Woodi (USA) Great movie except for 1 thing! bought it for my grand kids--ages 9-3. We were really enjoying all the action and even the moral lessons...when all of a sudden close to the end...Carmen socks her "boyfriend" in the nose and tells him he is full of S***. What a let down!!! we all just looked at each other and said "did they not think children would watch this?" and why did they even think that line needed to be in this movie for them? Ruin a whole movie for just one stupid unneeded word.....how very sad....
A little over the top believability wise April 7, 2008 Pam Elsayed I know this is sci-fi; but still it's a real stretch of the imagination especially with the creatures.but it was ok. I never saw the first one.
GREAT JOB January 29, 2008 DIMPLES, NOW, ALWAYS, & 4EVER (GEORGIA) I ORDERED THIS FOR MY DAUGHTER AND SHE IS VERY HAPPY. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME ORDERING FROM AMAZON AND I REALLY ENJOYED THE EXPERIENCE. I GOT MY PACKAGE ON TIME AND EVERYTHING WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND WORKED PROPERLY. THANK YOU.
If you like Spy Kids you will like 2 August 28, 2007 D. Lovitz (Lehigh Valley, PA) We all enjoyed Spy Kids, Spy Kids2 and Spy Kids 3D. They are good family movies that we all can watch.
I spy with my blue eye... June 16, 2007 Staci L. Wilson (USA) Pint-sized OSS Junior agents, sister and brother Carmen (Alexa Vega) and Juni (Daryl Sabara) Cortez, are back for another spirited adventure in Spy Kids 2. Their newest and most dangerous mission takes them to a mysterious, hidden volcanic island where they meet a reclusive genetic scientist (Steve Buscemi) and his bizarre Noah's Ark of hybrid creatures which include the cat-fish, the bull-frog, and the Spork (sparrow / pork). Hot on their heels, eager to solve the mystery on the island and stop the world's imminent destruction first, are Carmen and Juni's rivals from OSS Junior, Gary (Matt O'Leary) and Gerti (Emily Osment) Giggles. As the four kids head right into a perilous trap that could make them disappear forever, super spies Mom and Dad Cortez (Carla Gugino, Antonio Banderas) go after them, and their spy grandparents - "retired, but not tired" - played by Ricardo Montalban and Holland Taylor, round out the rescue party. But with their gadgets, gizmos and genetics, the Cortez kids don't need rescuing... or so they think. Writer, director, editor, production designer, director of photography, re-recording mixer and composer (!) Robert Rodriguez has done something very unusual here: he's topped the popular original. Spy Kids 2 has a better plot, cooler special effects, and even more adventure than Spy Kids 1. It helps that all the same actors are back to play these likable characters, and Rodriguez was smart enough to add just enough new ones. Grandpa Cortez, in his high-tech wheelchair, is a not only a great role model, he's portrayed by the ideal actor for the role. The Giggles kids are perfectly annoying, and there's also a cavalcade of consistently cool character actors - Bucemi, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Bill Paxton, Mike Judge - that are sure to delight with their quirky portrayals. The gadgets, such as the Dragon-Spy sub, the satellite linked watches that do everything but tell time, and the rocket powered hover shoes, are lots of fun, but it's the Ray Harryhausen-inspired creatures, mythic beasts and sword-fighting skeletons which are the most entertaining. Rodriguez walks the fine line of respecting without ripping off. I guess it's not top secret; I heartily recommend that you treat the kids - or the kid in you - to Spy Kids 2 on the special edition DVD.
