Product Description A LITTLE BOY MAKES A WISH ON A CARNIVAL WISHING MACHINE TO BE BIG &THE WISH IS MYSTERIOUSLY GRANTED, MAKING HIM A LITTLE BOYIN A MAN'S BODY.
Amazon.com essential video A perfect marriage of novel but incisive writing, acting, and direction, Big is the story of a 12-year-old boy who wishes he were older, and wakes up one morning as a 30-year-old man (Tom Hanks). The script by Gary Ross (Dave) and Anne Spielberg finds some unexpected ways of attacking obvious issues of sex, work, and childhood friendships, and in all of these things the accent is on classy humor and great sensitivity. Hanks is remarkable in the lead, at times hilarious (reacting to caviar just as a 12-year-old would) and at others deeply tender. Penny Marshall became a first-rate filmmaker with this 1988 work. --Tom Keogh

Big January 28, 2010 Arnita D. Brown (USA) A young boy makes a wish at a fairground machine to be big. He wakes up the following morning to find that his wish has been granted and his body has grown older over night. But he is still the same 12 year old kid on the inside. Now he must learn how to cope with the unfamiliar world of grown ups including getting a job, and having his first romantic encounter with a woman. This movie is timeless, entertaining, moving, splendidly written and stylishly directed classic. If you haven't seen this marvelous first rate comedy try to find it out as fast as you can. Tom Hanks is spectacular.
Funny, but very 80s January 17, 2010 D. J. Nardi (Washington, DC) When I first watched "Big," I loved it. I thought it was hilarious. However, more recently, the film strikes me as too 80s. Some of the humor is corny. The whole influence of the toy industry seems outdated (conventional toys seem to be much less important nowadays than video games). It's still a good movie, but I'm not sure how it'll wear with time. Definitely worth your checking out, but probably not a movie you'll rewatch frequently.
Big dvd September 24, 2009 M. R. wallace (Shippensburg,pa) A great movie, I saw this in the theater and I wanted to give it to a friend as a gift. I had a little trouble finding it but found it here for the best price.
BIG a great special film with worthless extended scenes September 12, 2009 Alan Siegel (pacific palisades) the blu-ray itself (as in any remastered film) is much better than any current or previous version. but as for being a "director's cut" or extended version, there's essentially not a single scene included that adds anything at all to the storytelling. the theatrical version is far superior.
Awesoe movie September 5, 2009 Mark H. Thompson (Seattle, WA) I've always loved this movie. It's great for the entire family and is one of my favorites with Tom Hank in it.
