Whether WrestleMania XIX goes down as the best WrestleMania ever will be for historians to decide, but the 2003 battle in Seattle certainly was notable for two of the biggest grudge matches to hit the WWE in many a moon. Billed as "20 years in the making," WWE mogul Mr. McMahon tried to put an end to Hulkamania in a street fight against the legenday Hogan. Despite all the accolades, the championship belts, and the movie career, one thing the Rock had never done is beat prodigal son Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania, and he was ready to pull out all the stops--including an unprecedented three Rock Bottoms--to do it. For all the hype, however, don't ignore the other events of the evening. For example, there was the actual WWE Championship to be decided, and Kurt Angle tried to prove he doesn't suck by taking on Brock Lesnar, and the loser headed straight from the ring to the hospital. There was a surprise ending in the World Heavyweight Championship Match between Triple H and Booker T, and the technically superb Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho match turned out to be the best of the night. Throw in Limp Bizkit, the Miller Lite catfight girls, and tons of bonus features, and you've got a six-hour extravaganza for the ages. --David Horiuchi

5 out of 5 stars Awesome event   December 1, 2007

WrestleMaina XIX had the show down of Vince VS Hogan. Smackdown once again proved it was better then Raw on the card as well.

Matt Hardy VS Rey Mysterio: Short but a good match.

Undertaker VS A-Train and Big Show: Not a bad match but it wasnt his best match. Notice how Undertaker might be 15-0 at WrestleMaina but he has beat some really bad wrestlers.

Victoria VS Trish Stratus VS Jazz: Dont care

Team Angle VS Los Guerreros VS Chris Benoit & Rhyno: A very good tag team match.

Shawn Michaels VS Chris Jericho: Loved the story going into the match and the match really delivered the goods. One of the best WrestleMaina matches in terms of wrestling go.

    Limp Bizkit Concert: BIG MISTAKE

Triple H VS Booker: Its amazing how many careers were ruined by Triple H in 2003. Although Booker and RVD would go on to obtain world title gold a few years later, I still hated how Triple H refused to put talent over.

Vince McMahon VS Hulk Hogan: Two of the best showman on the planet. A very entertaining match with a surprise finish.

The Rock VS Stone Cold: Third times a charm? Both men would soon depart WWE. Rock hasnt come back and Stone Cold makes appearences on and off.

Kurt Angle VS Brock Lesnar: Im glad Smackdown got the main event. Two of the best atheletes in WWE history but on an amazing show. Too bad neither man is still with the company.

A very good WrestleMaina with Smackdown once again showing Raw what wrestling was all about. Too bad Raw never took notice or fans for that matter.

5 out of 5 stars Definitely a toss up with X-Seven for the Greatest Ever!   April 28, 2007
Scotty 2 Hotty 24 (Back Woods, GEORGIA)
Wrestlemania XIX was just a tremendous event. Some say Wrestlemania X-Seven is arguably the greatest Wrestlemania ever and this Wrestlemania is the reason for the arguably part. This Wrestlemania was solid from top to bottom from beginning to end. Not a single dud or a bad match on here whatsoever. To believe it or not, to me the downside to this Wrestlemania were those stupid MillerLite catfight girls and the Torrie Wilson & Stacy Kiebler segements throughout the event leading up their little bed pillow fight. Besides them an Awesome event.

    1. Cruiserweight Championship
Matt Hardy w/ Shannon Moore vs. Rey Mysterio
Very fast paced match up here. Lots of interference from Moore though. Some other reviewers have said that this match was short; I think it was given a good amount of time. It did its job to pump up the crowd for the night. Very good opener. 4/5

    2. Undertaker vs. Big Show & A-Train
Not a bad match at all. It really got exciting in the beginning with Taker hitting the chokeslam in the early going and just doing his business all over Train and Big Show. Show and Train would take some cheap shots to Taker throughout the match due to the 2 on 1 advantage. Nathan Jones would come out and give Show a wicked spinning kick to take him out. Decent match up and it had a good ending(11-0). 3.5/5

    3. Women's Championship
Jazz vs. Trish Stratus vs. Victoria w/ Steven Richards
The women delivered on this night. Some pretty good spots. Victoria and Jazz would try to double team Trish but their egoes would soon get in the way. Richards added some humor to the match. Pretty fine women's match. Very watchable. 3.5/5

    4. WWE Tag Team Championship
Los Guererros vs. Team Angle vs. Chris Benoit & Rhyno
Nice tag team title match. Benoit & Eddie put on a great showing when they were in the ring together. There was some nice double team moves by Team Angle. The 3rd team really added more to the match. Rhyno hit some sickening gores in this one too. It had a sneaky ending but it all worked out good. 3.5/5

    5. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho
Phenomenal match right here. Jericho & Michaels make a great pairing in the ring together. Jericho would start working on Michael's back after applying the walls of Jericho on the outside and then just punishing Michaels' back. There were some nice counters and some good wrestling. Jericho would try to top Michaels at some points in the match by doing his moves. It had a very good ending as well, I thought it fitted in just good. Match of the night for sure. Another Wrestlemania classic match up. 5/5

    6. World Heavyweight Championship
Booker T vs. Triple H w/ Ric Flair
Some people really forgets about how good of a match this was. I thought this match was very good and I felt it was Wrestlemania material. Booker to me really had to prove himself in this match I thought. He really gave Hunter a run for his money in this one. There were some good brawling and some good wrestling holds. Hunter would work on Booker's leg and even applying the old school indian death lock on Booker which was very cool to see. Booker even added some high risk to the match. A very good forgotten match up right here, you will see what I mean when you watch it. 4.5/5

    7. Street Fight
    Mr. McMahon vs. Hulk Hogan
This was a fight many people have been waiting to see after when Hogan went to the WCW back in '93. McMahon would work on Hogan's arm in the beginning. The match was very brutal and very personal. Not a lot a weapons used but this was really just a good old fashion fight. This is possibably McMahon's best match in his career. You even get a suprise appeareance as well. A very insane, violent, brutal, personal match. 4/5

    8. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock
In my opinion, being the third encounter at Wrestlemania between Rock & Austin, this was the most personal out of the three. It started out very intense and fierce. It had some good brawling and hard shots on the outside. There were some very nice counters too. Rock works on Austin's leg briefly but not that whole much. The Rock hit some very hard impact Rock Bottoms to Austin in this one. I felt the macth was a little more on the entertainment side than the wrestling side but it still was a very great match. Defiantly the last time you will ever see these two in the ring against one another and they put on a very good showing. 4.5/5

    9. WWE Championship
    Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar
Some say their SummerSlam match was better than this one, I disagree with that. I believe this match was the best between the two. It had a better feel and hype to it to me. There was some good suplexes and reversals. Some nice impact moves and some solid wrestling. Lesnar trys to go for a shooting star but crashes and burn and it looked like it broke Lesnar's nose. Angle also suffers a broken neck. Angle did an unbeliveable job to fight through the injury and especially after he suffer's three F5s. A great main event. Very worthy of being in any Wrestlemania. Fantastic match, you can't ask for anything else from this one. 5/5

Wrestlemania XIX really went surpass the hype. An awesome event, I defiantly recommend in owning this one.

    5 out of 5 stars 2nd Best Wrestlemania   March 31, 2007
    KlownArt (Georgia)
I have been a wrestling fan since 1996 and have watched all kinds of wrestling. I have a wrestling DVD/VHS collection spanning over 50 all together. This is the most complete and accurate review of this DVD you will find. I hope you find this review helpful; remember to vote helpful or not helpful.(Note-Each DVD I review has a "Match of the DVD" award somewhere in it.)

    Wrestlemania XIX
This event was amazing from top to bottom. The staging and extremely long ramp are cool. This is probably one of the best Wrestlemania's you could buy. It was almost perfect. Buy this as soon as you can.

    Disc 1

    WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Matt Hardy(c) w/Shannon Moore VS Rey Mysterio
Great Opener. This match gets you excited for the rest of the event. There is a lot of highflying action including: corkscrew moonsaults, Splash Mountain Bombs to Hurricanrunnas, and much more. This is one of the best openers I've ever seen.
    RATING-9/10

Betweens these two matches, Limp Bizkit performs "Rollin".

    Handicap Match
Undertaker VS Big Show & A-Train
This match was originally a tag match that consisted of Undertaker teaming with Nathan Jones. Nathan Jones was attacked by Show and A-Train (with the help of Nunzio) and could not compete in the event. The match is pretty solid which I honestly didn't expect. Nathan Jones makes an appearance near the end and deals out a nice spin kick.
    RATING-7/10

    Triple-Threat- Women's Championship
Victoria(c) w/ Steven Richards VS Trish Stratus VS Jazz
There aren't really a lot of really good women's matches in WWE. This match is awesome though. Victoria does a cool moonsault. Jazz uses her power to control most of the match. The ending seemed a little weak though.
    RATING-8.5/10

Triple-Threat Tag- WWE Tag Team Championship
Team Angle(c) VS Los Guerreros VS Rhyno & Benoit
Benoit returns to Wrestlemania after WWE WrestleMania X8 due to a broken neck. This is a solid match-up and keeps the action going well.
    RATING-8/10

    Shawn Michaels VS Chris Jericho
I might get a lot of hate for saying this, but this match is over rated constantly. It was a great match with a great storyline. The match wasn't that amazing though. I enjoyed it and I know everyone else will enjoy it, but don't get sucked into the hype machine or you will be let down. Still, the story is amazing and the match is great. It is just not a perfect 10.
    RATING-9/10

Limp Bizkit performs "Crack Addict" between these two matches.

    Pillow Fight
Catfight Girls VS Stacy Keibler VS Torrie Wilson
Somewhat funny but really not much here. No rating because it's not much of a match.

    World Heavyweight Championship
    Triple H(c) VS Booker T
I love this match. Triple H and Booker T use every move in their arsenal, even using some new moves. Triple H works over Booker's leg most of the match and Booker sells it very well. This match is very well done and you will love it.
    RATING-9/10

Street Fight- 20 Years in the Making
    Hulk Hogan VS Vince McMahon
This isn't the best street fight ever, not even Vince's best street fight, but it is still really good. There is a really good announcer table spot done by Vince. A lot of blood is shed in this match. There is also an appearance by another WWE legend near the end of the match.
    RATING-8/10

    Disc 2

Stone Cold Steve Austin VS The Rock(Match of the Night Award)
This match is amazing. A lot of brawling like the usual Austin/Rock confrontations. Finishers are used like crazy. What's funny is this isn't even there best match. They had matches at two other Wrestlemania's: WWE WrestleMania XV - The Ragin' Climax and WWE WrestleMania X-Seven.
    RATING-9.5/10

    WWE Championship
    Kurt Angle VS Brock Lesnar
This is a very good match. Lots of suplexes and finishers. Slow-paced but the match works well that way. The ending is sickening and hard to watch, luckily Lesnar is okay. These two would go on to fight many more matches including their next one-on-one PPV match at WWE SummerSlam 2003.
    RATING- 8/10

4 out of 5 stars Twenty Years in the Making   November 9, 2006
Christopher K. Ludecke (Cheshire, CT United States)
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

    Cruiserweight Championship:
Matt Hardy V.1(Champion) w/ Shannon Moore vs. Rey Mysterio
This match was too short to be a great contest, but the action is non-stop. Both Hardy and Mysterio really put on a good show, I just wish they were given more time.
    3.5/5

TaUndertaker vs. A-Train and Big Show
Not a bad match considering how I have never felt that these guys work too well together. I think it was a smart move making it a handicap match. The ending was pretty cool with a nice spinning cresent kick by Nathan Jones to the big show.
    3/5

    Women's Championship:
Victoria (Champion) w/ Steven Richards vs. Trish Stratus vs. Jazz
This is the best women's title match I have ever seen. This match had a good pace, and all the women here really put on a good show, and to me, the right lady won.
    4/5

    WWE Tag Team Championship:
Team Angle (Champions) vs. Los Guerreros vs. Chris Benoit & Rhyno
This match was pretty good, with some nice spots, but I wish it were longer.
    3/5

"HBK" Shawn Michaels vs. "Y2J" Chris Jericho
The show stopper returns to Wrestlemania and proves once again why he is the greatest in ring performer of all time. Excellent match, with both men putting on a magnificent display of skill. Jericho's version of the superkick and replicating Michaels with the forearm and kip-up was very entertaining.
    5/5

Catfight: Torrie Wilson vs. Stacy Keibler vs. Catfight Girls
    Any guy would enjoy this.

    World Championship:
Triple H (Champion) w/ Ric Flair vs. Booker T
This match started off real good, with a nice pace and a nice spot with Triple H being arm dragged off the top rope. However, Flair's interference really broke the rhythm of this match. Nice Harlem/Houston Hangover at the end, too bad though Booker T took the pedigree wrong.
    3.5/5

    Street Fight:
    Vince McMahon vs. Hulk Hogan
This match was 20 years in the making, and the build-up and storyline leading up to it was excellent. For two men over fifty they definitely put on a great match. Nice spot with the leg drop off the ladder through a table by Vince, and it was real exciting to see Rowdy Piper make a surprise appearance. Also the three leg drops by Hogan were a nice touch.
    4/5

    The Rock vs. Stone Cold
This match was good considering neither men were at their best in terms of timing in the ring. Austin's neck was in real bad shape and he knew this would be his last match, and you could tell he mentally wasn't all there. Both men however did a good job of trying to give this match it's own identity in comparing it to their other two WM encounters. It has more technical wrestling then thier match at WM X-seven does. The ending could have been better as it was a little anti-climatic.
    4/5

    WWE Championship:
Kurt Angle (Champion) vs. Brock Lesnar
Considering Angle had a broken neck, he was able to put on an amazing match. I love the technical wreslting that these two men perform throughout the match, and watching Angle kick out of the F-5 was breathtaking. This match will always be remember however for Lesnar's failed Shooting Star Press, it's an intense moment, as you can tell Tazz and Cole were both in shock. A great gesture of sportmanship at the end, and a great way to end one of the best Wrestlemania's of all time.
    5/5 stars
