This is the movie that was supposed to make Jim Carrey a star--in 1985, no less. Perhaps it's no wonder that it took him until the 1990s (and In Living Color): this bloodless vampire comedy almost sank his movie career before it began. Carrey plays an innocent L.A. teen, the unlikely object of the affections of slinky Lauren Hutton, a long-lived vampire who needs the blood of a virgin to stay young. So, she woos the unsuspecting, naive young Valley guy. But most of the jokes fall flat, and only when Carrey cuts loose briefly and lets his wild side show do we get a glimpse of the future Ace Ventura. --Marshall Fine

I like hutton for some reason. and Jim is the man! hilarious 80s movie with a twist.The butler is super funny and reminds me of the don't worry be happy guy or the butler on fresh prince(a show I loathe) good movie and one of jim's earliest. For any Carrey's fan good to watch or rent.

Pay attention Twilight fans; this is how you do it. Once Bitten is a lighthearted twist on the traditional vampire tale that strays away from the dark side of vampirism, and produces a cute but clever movie good for all ages.
A vampire countess (Lauren Hutton) desperately needs virgin blood in order to stay young and maintain the powers and benefits of being a vampire - one of which is eternal beauty. Lucky for her, Mark Kendall (Jim Carrey) - a somewhat goofy, gangly teenager with raging hormones - is having problems sealing the deal with his somewhat prudish girlfriend. In fairness to her, however, he is trying to do so in the front seat of his ice cream truck. Mark's bond with his girlfriend begins to fall apart when he meets the countess, and she begins to use her seductive powers to gain his trust and extract his blood.
This guilty pleasure from the 80s is funny from beginning to end. The musical montages and fashions from that era are hilarious. Clevon Little as the countess' primary assistant named Sebastian is brilliant in his mannerisms. A classic dance sequence is an early career moment in which Jim Carrey simply exudes talent, and a pretty awesome Michael Jackson impersonation. Finishing with a cute chase through the countess' mansion, Mark is torn between his high school sweetheart and the alluring countess.

The film begins in a modern kitchen. A servant brings a vintage drink to the countess. She has a problem in the late 20th century: how to find a virgin for her special needs. The burgers are cooked with a special sauce. Mark and his buddies visit the Hollywood entertainment district - in an ice cream truck! Too good to be true? "I don't feel good about this." There is a comic misunderstanding with an angry husband. Mark leaves with the Countess. This is not your grandpa's Castle Dracula. No make-up mirror? [What ever happened to the "acid rain problem"?] Mark will be sent home to recover. "Do you remember anything?" Mark now has a taste for uncooked hamburger. Robin heard all.
Mark acts strange at home. Should he see a doctor? Does he have strange dreams? What about his high-school life? There is a funny scene in a laundromat. "She said no." The scene in the clothes store is less funny, but carries the story forward. "Could he be anemic?" The church scene isn't funny. Another strange dream! The Halloween Hop begins, there is a dance to amuse the viewers. [The high point of the film.] "I'm not wearing a costume." Where would a female vampire bite a male to get fresh blood? Can his friends check Mark's thighs? Is this a mistake? Mark and his friends go to the home of the Countess to rescue Robin. But things go terribly wrong, until Robin intervenes. There is a comic chase. Can they escape? A happy ending requires it.
As comic parodies go "Love at First Bite" is still the best, followed by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". This film seems too amateur in style. Watch "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein".

I have loved this movie for years but I could never find it in a local store. My first search attempt on Amazon gave me this and I was SOLD. Plus with all of the "Twilight" craze happening now, I wanted to share this vampire movie with my daughter and niece!
