Amazon.com Stuck for a story idea that will excite his dismissive editor, New York magazine reporter Christopher Reeve hits on a winner: the life of a Manhattan pimp. The editor eats it up, but there's just one problem: Reeve made the whole thing up and now the editor wants more. What's worse, a scarily charismatic pimp (Morgan Freeman) and his top prostitute come looking for the reporter, believing that he was, in fact, writing about them. As they seduce him with access to their world, he becomes more and more trapped by his lies, particularly when a crusading D.A. also takes an interest in just what he knows. Reeve is the bland nougat center in what is otherwise a very tasty little film, given added crunch by the superlatively seductive Freeman and the equally intriguing Baker. --Marshall Fine

Morgan Freeman does another great job February 2, 2010 Dell (Moreno Valley, Ca) Morgan Freeman shows how versatale an actor he is, and not a very nice guy at all. This is really a good one, and a must see for Morgan Freeman and Chistopher Reeve fans

Street Smart - A truly great performance by Morgan Freeman November 14, 2007 Charles Banks (Chicago, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Morgan Freeman was robbed of an Oscar for his performance in this low budget and under appreciated film. Overall the movie was just okay, but it is well worth the price to see Morgan Freeman stealing every scene that he's in while scaring you to death with his portrayal of his character.
A tour de force of acting by Morgan Freeman. November 11, 2007 Dusty Roads (Seattle) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Morgan Freeman definitely was worthy of an oscar for his acting in this film!!! The story was very interesting with excellent acting by everyone. It's a piece of American cinematic art in its' own right, within the category it is in. For those who want to nit-pick at it with proposterous fussy-ness, they should either mention films (they consider perfect), or, present the list of movies (they produced and directed) so we can see what perfection is. And, liking a certain type of movie doesn't add-up-to that the viewer endorses the behavior or lifestyle portrayed in the movie - as some may conclude. -- (I suggest reading 'C.O. DeReimer's' review of this movie over mine)!
