Kids will be drawn to Kangaroo Jack because of the playful antics of a computer-generated kangaroo; however, they'll probably be bored stiff as they endure the absurd and over-elaborate plot. Charlie (the charmless Jerry O'Connell) and his best friend Louis (the reasonably amusing Anthony Anderson) run afoul of Charlie's mob boss stepfather. He insists that they deliver $50,000 to a mystery man in the Australian outback--or else. Along the way, these two dimwits put Louis's bright red jacket (which happens to contain the money) on a kangaroo they think they've accidentally killed, which awakens and bounds off. Belabored and nonsensical chases follow, along with the usual realizations about the importance of friendship, etc. Kangaroo Jack has a lot more sexual innuendo and violence than you'd expect, none of which is either funny or thrilling. Christopher Walken and Estella Warren get through their supporting roles largely unscathed. --Bret Fetzer

4 out of 5 stars Mildly entertaining   October 10, 2009

This is a classic buddy comedy, and all the success of a buddy comedy depends on the strength of the buddy team. Fortunately Jerry O'Connell and Anthony Anderson prove to be an amusing pair. Estella Warden plays the hot love interest to Jerry O'Connell, and her role doesn't require her to step too far out of her limited acting ability. As with a comedy of this type, the plot is outlandish, but Kangaroo Jack has some character, though I found it to be annoying occasionally. The beauty of Australia always impresses. Fun for kids, maybe a little less fun for adults, this movie is still worth watching.

4 out of 5 stars What can I say , it was a birthday present.   August 30, 2009

Of course my grandson loves it. He wants the whole series. I don't know how many there are, but I'm sure he'll tell me. I'm glad VHS is still available since his TV/VCR combo is still good.

4 out of 5 stars An Awesome Film!!!   June 26, 2009
    Pumpkin Man
This is a very funny movie about two buddies named Charlie and Louis. Charlie's mother is married to a mobster named Salvatore Maggio. Salvatore gives Charlie and Louis an assignment to deliver a package to a man named 'Smith' in Australia. They find out that the package is $50,000 and Louis puts it in his lucky jacket and puts the jacket on a Kangaroo they think is dead. It turns out, that the Kangaroo is still alive and hops away. They decide to call him Jackie Legs, and try to get back the money by any means necessary. I highly recommend KANGAROO JACK!!!

3 out of 5 stars Jumpin' Jack   March 18, 2009

The movie is cute, and great for a dvd release but I am glad I didn't waste the money at the theatre. Good for kids and adults alike.
