Amazon.com A beloved tabby cat becomes the catalyst for healing and hope between a young girl and her widowed father in Disney's 1964 classic, based on the enchanting fable by Paul Gallico. Set in the Scottish highlands in 1912, the story focuses on Andrew MacDhui (Patrick McGoohan) a veterinarian who, after the death of his wife, has closed his heart to goodness and empathy-- toward his animal patients and his only child. Left essentially an orphan, Mary (Karen Dotrice) finds love from her cat, Thomasina, until a tragedy injures the cat and her father orders it to be killed. A tenderhearted maiden (Susan Hampshire) finds Thomasina, detects a heartbeat, and nurses the feline back to health. Her healing powers eventually move beyond the animal kingdom into the lives of MacDhui and Mary. The stellar cast includes standout performances by Dotrice and Matthew Garber (who plays Mary's loyal chum)--better known as the duo, Jane and Michael Banks, in Mary Poppins. Best watched with kids and Kleenex. (Ages 5 and older) --Lynn Gibson

entertaining for kids and can speak to adults, too February 8, 2010 Arthur L. Manning I enjoyed this movie. It's a story that is a bit strange and could even qualify as a fable. It's an entertaining tale for children, but it also deals with the childish attitudes we mature, stable adults can unknowingly get into, as well. I can't imagine a cat lover not loving this movie.
The 3 Lives of Thomasina January 26, 2010 Andrea (Raleigh, NC) My brothers, sisters, and I saw this movie on Walt Disney several times, while growing up. I saw it (right before purchasing it) again, as an adult, and it brought back so many memories! It really is a great movie!
Great movie for everyone December 28, 2009 R. Redd (Glen Dale, WV USA) A movie that you will remember forever. I have watched this whimsical movie about six times. Purchased on Amazon for my granddaugther for Christmas. She loves animals and I thought this movie would be perfect for her. I am very satisfied with my transaction with Amazon.
Classic Disney movie December 12, 2009 Loria H. Dawson (North Carolina) I bought this video for my girls because we used to check it out from the library. It's impossible to find in local stores. It's a very good story full of family values, laughs, tears, and joy. My children have watched it time and time again. It never gets old. The seller on amazon was fast. The video came in brand new condition as described and at an excellent price
Calling all cat lovers young and those young at heart.. November 28, 2009 Phoenix I first saw this movie when I was around 8 and fell in love with it. I recently bought this movie and enjoyed it even more as an adult. I had two other adults watch it with me and they too loved it.. Great family movie and great story about our animal friends and the bond we share with them.
