A Runaway's Dilemma, Born Innocent-Amazon September 23, 2009 Michael A. Lilly (Charlotte Hall, MD (USA)) While serving time in the U.S. Navy and having read the paperback, "The Exorcist" and seeing the movies, one of my favorite actresses included Linda Blair who is the star of "Born Innocent." I had never seen this made for TV movie before and wonder who may have actually seen it then. The movie causes one to think about relationships and why a runaway thinks anything is better than going back home when one of her parents won't give her a chance to straighten up and fly right.
SHOCKING IN IT'S TIME AND STILL AN ABOVE AVERAGE TV MOVIE! March 2, 2009 ! MR. KNOW IT ALL ;-b (TRI STATE AREA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Being a boy growing up in the 70's meant you had the hots for Linda Blair! After her breakthrough role as Regan in 'The Exorcist' Linda Blair was cast in a couple of TV films starting with 'Born Innocent' and then on to 'Sweet Hostage'. This film had a shocking and controversial scene of her being gang raped by a group of girls with a plunger! The scene is tame by today's standards, but it was something in the 70's especially in a TV movie.
The film is pretty good by TV standard of the era and it's amazing that studio executives would allow a 14 year old girl to be subjected to such a thing on screen....I guess after she got her privates invaded by a holy cross in 'The Exorcist' a plunger was the next best thing!? The DVD transfer looks pretty good and there some bios for the main actor. The trailer extras for some low budget horror films are a hoot!
BORN INNOCENT July 31, 2008 Susan Swatling (Schenectady, NY) I ORDERED THIS BECAUSE I REMEMBER SEEING IT BACK IN THE MID-70s WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND STILL NAIVE ABOUT THE WORLD. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST AS GOOD SEEING IT AGAIN NOW IN MY 40s WITH LOTS OF INSIGHT ON LIFE. LINDA BLAIR AT THAT TIME OFTEN PLAYED THE ROLE OF A TROUBLED TEENAGE GIRL. THERE IS A VIOLENT RAPE SCENE WHICH TAKES PLACE IN THE SHOWER ROOM AT THE GIRLS' DETENTION CENTER. I FELT THIS WAS FILMED APPROPRIATELY BY MOSTLY SHOWING THE ACTRESS FROM THE WAIST UP AND WITH A MINIMUM OF NUDITY. STILL-WHEN I SAW IT IN THE 70s THERE WAS A DISCLAMOR ON THE TV SCREEN SAYING THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE AN ADULT MOVIE WITH MATURE SUBJECT MATTER. THIS FILM STILL GAVE ME A NERVOUS SHIVVER!..susan swatling
A lesson in life. June 30, 2008 M. Nordborg (europe) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a movie about a girl trying to get out of the Hell called home.
Unfortunately, this makes her seen as a criminal to the state. Sending her to a correctional facility with the worst kids her age possible. People who will never(!) get out of system. Another Hell.
Guess who`s the new favorite victim.
Slowly her hopes to get out is picked away, leaving her alone. Except for the other inmates.
Strong scenes of abuse and emotion.
The last sceen is one of the really rare, sweet moments of movies. Complete despair, and possibilities lost.
This is an excellent movie everyone should see. Reminds me a little of Lord of the flies.
