| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Bette Midler poured her heart and soul into this story of a pair of entertainers who repeatedly took time from their careers to entertain U.S. troops at war, from World War II to Vietnam--and it sank like a stone at the box office. Granted, it's corny and emotionally over the top. But there are strong emotions at play here in the tale of an unlikely team of singer and comedian (played by Midler and James Caan), who are brought together for a reunion show in their dotage. As they nervously anticipate seeing each other for the first time in years, they are flooded with memories of their earlier days as a hot show-biz couple whose own troubles always took second place to their patriotic urge to buoy our boys in uniform. Some say this was a veiled film version of the Martha Raye story; Midler gives it her all and Caan isn't half-bad. But director Mark Rydell lays on the schmaltz so thickly at times that it overpowers the tougher material. --Marshall Fine

I'll Remember ... YOU! March 24, 2009 D. Munro (PA, USA) That final line of the movie is only part of what makes it so wonderful. Bette Midler plays Dixie opposite James Caan's Eddie. When they meet, neither is impressed with the other ... however, both deliver magic when onstage in front of thousands of GIs. With great comic timing and spectacular chemistry, they stumble into a partnership that will take them through three different wars, joys and tragedies. They're more than friends, more than performing partners ... and their unique relationship lasts decades. They see ups and downs, have fights and disagreements, but in the end come together FOR THE BOYS. Bette Midler and James Caan are fantastic in this movie. The music is wonderful as well. One of Bette's best!
Sweet! March 21, 2009 Cameron Dunham I really liked the movie, I thought it would be one way and it turned out to be an other. I also liked the speed in which I recieved the movie, it was really fast!
Great Movie October 6, 2008 T. Menville 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This has got to be one of my all time favorites. It is definately a "chick flick". But I loved it. It was both, funny and sad. I highly recommend this movie.
A must have Bette Midler movie! August 26, 2008 R. Michels (Pennsylvania) The best of Bette in this movie. You've got her wonderful singing voice, her comedic acting, her serious dramatic acting....everything. This movie has all of what you expect from Bette Midler. James Caan adds just the right amount of talent but pales in comparison to Bette Midler. You've got to get this movie to add to your library.

Great value for the money. I love this movie--although there is quite a bit of bad language in it--and the soundtrack is great! I had the soundtrack when it first came out, but had lost it over the years. I was really happy to find it and for a great price!
