Product Description Movie DVD
Amazon.com Prepare to get hooked on Everwood, a family drama-comedy from the WB television network that looks and feels like a hybrid of Northern Exposure and Picket Fences--both shows, incidentally, being major influences on Everwood's talented creator, Greg Berlanti (Dawson's Creek). A fish-out-of-water tale with unusually high stakes in the relationship arena, Everwood gets much of its charge from near-perfect performances by Treat Williams (The Deep End of the Ocean) and Gregory Smith (The Patriot) as a contentious father and son trying to keep their family going after a catastrophic loss. Williams plays Andy Brown, a world-class neurosurgeon whose Manhattan practice caters to the rich and famous; it also keeps him far removed from daily life and big events within his family. After Andy's wife (Brenda Strong) dies in a car accident, he finds himself raising a gifted 15-year-old boy, Ephram (Smith), who hates him because of years of neglect, and the much younger Delia (Vivien Cardone from A Beautiful Mind), who is scared and confused without her mom. Andy, often seen in the first couple of episodes speaking to his late spouse, decides the best way to honor her memory is to move the family to little Everwood, Colorado, a special place in her memory. Not just a move--more of a wholesale re-invention, beginning with Andy's new salt-and-pepper beard and including a no-charge medical clinic he opens in Everwood's former train station. The free practice puts Andy at odds with the unpleasant Dr. Abbott (Tom Amandes of the syndicated The Untouchables), whose daughter, Amy (Emily VanCamp), develops a friendship with lonely Ephram while she also pines for her boyfriend, Colin (Mike Erwin), long lost in a deep coma. Over the course of the first season, many lines of connection will be drawn between these folks. Andy will be asked to attempt a risky operation on Colin, with ramifications affecting his son, Amy, and others. Abbott's sour relationship with Andy will lighten up enough for the former to join Andy's practice, and other surprises are in store. The series is filled out by other, sweet and eccentric regulars, including Debra Mooney as Andy's nurse (also Abbott's plain-speaking mom), John Beasley as her husband and Delia's bus driver, and Stephanie Niznik as Andy's neighbor, Nina, a surrogate mother. Surprisingly gutsy storytelling, generally understated dialogue, heartfelt performances, and gorgeous Colorado exteriors keep one coming back for more. --Tom Keogh

Great Show; Poor Pachage June 5, 2009 Clayton Carney (Albuquerque, NM USA) I bought this as a gift for an Everwood fan and she was thrilled. I was disappointed to find two out of three of the DVD holders had come loose from the binding. Upon examination, I found that the inside spine of the binding had printing (and clay coating) on it. No wonder the glue failed to adhere. After removing the coating with sandpaper and applying hot glue, the package was ready for gifting. Did not realize that 'some assembly is required.'
Everwood January 18, 2009 M. Dutt (Macomb, Michigan) I love the tv series Everwood. I think the dvd of the first season is great. Please tell them to come out with the rest of the seasons.
So glad to cross paths with EVERWOOD again :) January 12, 2009 K. Jenae (California) I TOTALLY enjoyed the Everwood series and was sooo bummed when it ended. A while ago I happened across the theme song on emusic and downloaded it. Every time I heard it on my MP3 player I yearned to see the show again. I found the first season on DVD here at Amazon and promptly ordered it. I was so contented to sit down and view the pilot show again. I'm just looking for my next chance to sit down and enjoy the whole first season show by show again. My ONLY regret is so far I have not seen the 2nd season out to buy!! I feel like a kid with my enjoyment factor and I am 50! :)
Love Season 1, and only 1 January 9, 2009 Claire Allen (Maryland, USA) When Everwood came out on the WB I was certain it was the best thing on TV. The show is filled with endearing, multi-dimensional characters whose interactions produce a fabulous viewing experience. It's effects span the emotions and gives the viewer "that feeling" you get when a movie or show is emotionally satisfying and also somewhat profound. ***Spoiler alert here for those who have only seen season 1*** As for those who are craving seasons 2-4, I say let it go. The first season was amazing, and it was the show's peak. Let's face it, the primary conflict is about Ephram and Amy who kind of want to get together but are conflicted by Colin's presence, or lack thereof. Once Colin is no longer in a coma the whole dynamic of the show, and the characters' ability to interact changes. The writers get desperate, the show goes downhill. Be glad Season 1 is out. It's AMAZING. And just hold onto the good times.
Everwood October 25, 2008 a believer (Virginia) Everwood is one of those continuing series type of shows, much like a soap opera would be, except more sophisticated. And, it is one of my favorites. When I realized that it had come out on DVD, it brought back such warm memories just to think of it that I knew it must have been a very pleasant viewing experience. It's not fast-paced or flashy, but frankly, that's what I liked about it. It's family situations with introspection and a few surprises, and nicely done by all.
