Product Description THIS HILARIOUS FILM TELLS THE TALE OF A YOUNG ORPHAN CHILD WHO MISTAKENLY CRAWLS INTO SANTA'S BAG OF GIFTS ON CHRISTMAS EVE & IS TRANSPORTED BACK TO THE NORTH POLE & RAISED AS AN ELF. YEARS LATER BUDDY LEARNS HE'S NOT REALLY AN ELF & GOES ON A JOURNEY TO NEW YORK CITY TO FIND HIS TRUE IDENTITY.
Amazon.com Elf is genuinely good. Not just Saturday Night Live-movie good, when the movie has some funny bits but is basically an insult to humanity; Elf is a smartly written, skillfully directed, and deftly acted story of a human being adopted by Christmas elves who returns to the human world to find his father. And because the writing, directing, and acting are all genuinely good, Elf is also genuinely funny. Will Ferrell, as Buddy the adopted elf, is hysterically sincere. James Caan, as his rediscovered father, executes his surly dumbfoundedness with perfect aplomb. Zooey Deschanel, as a department store worker with whom Buddy falls in love, is adorably sardonic. Director Jon Favreau (Swingers) shepherds the movie through all the obligatory Christmas cliches and focuses on material that's sometimes subtle and consistently surprising. Frankly, Elf feels miraculous. Also featuring Mary Steenburgen, Bob Newhart, Peter Dinklage, and Ed Asner as Santa Claus. --Bret Fetzer

Wonderful Movie June 4, 2009 Brant Puttkammer (Woodbury, MN) If you have seen Elf and are considering purchasing it on Blu-Ray you likely feel the same as I do. Blu-Ray of Elf is very clear and great sound. Will Ferrel is wonderful and this movie gets better each Christmas.
ELF June 2, 2009 Gihaad warts (Hollywood, FL) Good and funny PG humor by non other than Will Ferrall. Solid movie with some great banter. Recommended family movie. Picture quality is 8 out of 10. Sound quality is a solid 7 1/2
Best New Christmas Movie in Years April 6, 2009 Paul D. Race (Springfield, OH United States) Wil Farrell is funniest when he is playing a clueless innocent, and no one is more innocent or clueless than "Buddy," a human raised by elves at the North Pole. A tremendous supporting cast, including Bob Newhart, James Caan, Mary Steenburgen, and Ed Asner, bring vitality and a sort of quirky plausibility to a movie that seems to start out in "Rudolf-land" and ends up with a cop-on-horseback-versus-reindeer chase scene in Central Park. Peter Dinklage (Prince Caspian's Trumpkin) has a bit as a children's author with an attitude that is almost worth the price of admission. With the exception of Buddy's father choosing one of the few bad judgments that virtually never takes place in that industry (distributing a children's book with the last plot page missing), everything else that happens in the movie seems to flow right out of the characters and from the conflict between Buddy's inherent good nature and naivete and the "real-world's" jaded cynicism. This is a remarkable movie, and will no doubt tie with Stranger Than Fiction as Farrell's most enduring work. - Paul Race, Editor, Family Christmas Online
