Amazon.com The Best of Will Ferrell - Vol. 1 The latest in the line of Saturday Night Live's great character players (including Dan Aykroyd and Phil Hartman), Will Ferrell showcases his fearlessness in this 72-minute collection. Whether exposing skin or taking a pause beyond the normal limits, Ferrell induces hard laughs like with the cowbell rocker in the first sketch. The selection includes Ferrell's spot-on impressions of Cub announcer Harry Caray, game-show icon Alex Trebek, President Bush, and Inside the Actor's Studio host James Lipton. As with other SNL Best of... retrospectives, there are short snippets to go along with the full-length sketches that include excellent selections of Ferrell's returning characters Craig the Cheerleader and the swinging Culp brothers. A must for fans, and the DVD includes an intriguing audition footage in which Ferrell leaps from character and character. The Best of Will Ferrell - Vol. 2 There is no drop-off in laughs from the first to second volume of Will Ferrell's work on Saturday Night Live. Giggle along with his recurring characters, including James Lipton (interviewing Kate Hudson as a wonderfully ditzy Drew Barrymore), a wickedly clever George W. Bush, and one-half of the smarmy Lovers couple. This volume spotlights Ferrell's ability to go successfully over-the-top whether as an overbearing boss (check out how long he keeps stabbing a doomed coworker), a strict airplane pilot, an absent-minded doctor, or the world's oldest baby. There's plenty of unabashed (near) nudity and risky violence, which keeps the SNL tradition of "Not Ready for Prime Time"; check out what longtime hosts of the morning talk show resort to when the much-needed teleprompter fails. All that plus "Janet Reno's Dance Party" (with guest Rudy Giuliani) makes this the perfect pick-up for those who could not get enough of Ferrell with volume 1. --Doug Thomas

Kind of a rip off February 11, 2009 Cypressemote (Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I should have listened to the reviews here warning about this one. Do you like Will Ferrell's Bush skits? Congraulations, this dvd will give you one 20 second cut from one skit. And a lot of other 20 second clips taken out of context. (I'm guessing you're supposed to go "oh yeah, I remember that one" and fill in the rest yourself.) The full length skits they do have are a mixed bag - Cowbell is probably the most well known, but it does not carry the rest of the set.
I don't get why SNL is so protective of their footage - like how they won't allow it on Youtube, but then only host a thin selection of content on their own site. My kids started being interested in politics this year, and I really wanted to show them past election skits, including the Will Ferrell Mack North ones where he does the campaign commercials continuing to attack his opponent after the election is over because he genuinely hates him. These moments are a part of our culture, and it's a shame there's no way to see them again.
snl will ferrel January 8, 2009 Laurie A. Weber not very funny very unusual for Mr. Ferrell. Not at all some of his funniest snl sits.
SNL-Best of Will Ferrell Vol 1 & 2 May 27, 2008 G. Woods (Ladysmith, WI. USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this dvd for the cowbell skit. I love Will Ferrell for his betrayal of Alex Trebek from Jeopardy. This dvd was well worth what I paid. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of SNL.
More Will Ferrell March 11, 2008 Daniel J. Nielsen (Seattle WA) Its not that this kind of thing needs a review to know what to expect of it, but here goes.
If u like the Ferrell you will like this for sure. I bought this for my girlfriend and watched it with her. It kept her entertained for a while but I noticed that the laughing was limited to a small portion of the skits. However, the few funny skits are worth the buy if you like Will Ferrell.
OK February 24, 2008 Kevin Goodman I am very pleased with the item I bought, however, I was very disapointed with the shipping and how long it took to get to me. I was very anxious to receive my item. I expected more from a top selling company. Thanks
