Amazon.com The raunchy slapstick comedy Soul Plane touches down on DVD in an unrated "Mile High Edition" that adds five minutes of more outrageous material that should appeal to fans who queued up for this urban take on Airplane! Kevin Hart stars a young man who becomes the head of the first all-black airline after winning a major lawsuit. Complications arise during the maiden voyage courtesy of a chemically impeded pilot (Snoop Dogg), a misplaced white family (led by Tom Arnold), and Hart's scheming cousin (Method Man). Snoop, Method, Arnold, and Missi Pyle are the most amusing in the game cast, but too frequently, any attempt to pull Soul Plane out of a scatological tailspin is undone by music-video helmer Jessy Torero's unfocused direction. Still, the gags come fast and furious, so for there's undoubtedly something to laugh at amidst the bathroom and ethnic jibes. --Paul Gaita

The SOUL PLANE Film Ride! April 15, 2009 C. Frazier (Brooklyn, NY USA) Yeah, I know this film has a rep for being one of the worst films ever made & is considered by many to be highly offensive,... but, I really don't care. I thought it was the funniest, stupid movie I've probably ever seen! The fact that it's so panned universaly actually may have added to it's humor quotient as far as I'm concerned. A great cast of people, many of whom would probably not ever want to have this film brought up in conversation again, make it an even more joyous film viewing experience. Comedians Kevin Hart, D.L.Hughley,Mo'Nique, Geofrey, Loni Love,Tom Arnold,.. a whole host of hotties,.. and Snoop Dogg as the ghetto-fab, smoke tokin' pilot. Total stupidity & fun for all! In real life, wouldn't go near an airline situation like that knowingly,... but as a DVD film entertainment,... repeat rides on this flight many times over! "Big, Stupid, FUN!!!"Soul Plane (Unrated Mile High Edition)
Take A Wild, Hilarious Ride On Board The Soul Plane February 3, 2009 J. B. Hoyos (Chesapeake, VA) Are you afraid to fly? You will be after taking a ride on NWA. Because you may die of non-stop laughter. "Soul Plane" has stereotypical, obnoxious characters; raunchy, offensive humor; and an outlandish, unrealistic plot - everything that a comedy should have. If you loved the disaster spoofs of the seventies and eighties such a "Airplane" and "Big Bus," then you will love this African-American version of the disaster epic "Airport." "Soul Plane" has a racially diverse cast of very talented actors and rappers. Among my favorites are Snoop Dogg, MoNique, and Tom Arnold. Kevin Hart ("The Fifth Element") is Nashawn who is awarded 100 million in a lawsuit. (He got his buttocks stuck on a toilet seat while his plane was lifting off and saw his beloved dog get sucked into an engine.) He buys his own airline, NWA, which caters to African Americans. The plane is painted purple, its wheels have large silver chromed hub caps, and it bounces up and down on the runway. A disco and strip bar are on board. Also, the passengers are segregated into either a plush high class or a subway-like, no thrills low class. However, everyone is having fun until the pilot (Snoop Dogg) overdoses on drugs and dies. I laughed from beginning to end. I laughed until my ribs hurt. Despite the laughter, my heart was warmed by the romantic story that unfolded in the background when Nashawn has a chance encounter with his ex-girlfriend Giselle. He realizes that love is more important than money. However, for a few dollars, you can buy "Soul Plane" and have a few hours of non-stop laughter. This film is highly recommended for those who love hilarious spoofs, especially spoofs of disaster movies. "Soul Plane" is guaranteed to lift your spirits until you are soaring through the sky, leaving your problems on the ground.
THE Worst Movie Ever Made! January 20, 2009 Athanasius (NYC) And that's a generous assessment. I'm anything but sheltered, but my jaw dropped watching this unmitigated filth. It is the very definition of vulgarity, mean-spiritedness, and nasty-mindedness. "Soul Plane" makes Jerry Springer appear high-brow in comparison. What a ghastly symbol of a culture that is not only in decline, but in absolute free-fall. Avoid this bubonic "comedy" at all costs. "Airplane" -- yes! "Soul Plane" -- no, a thousand times, no!
