    Description
From the director and producer of Lady Terminator comes another slice of wild and wicked Asian horror fantasy. LA chick Suzy, on holiday in south east Asia, raises the spirit of a 1000 year old witch using a book of magic spells. The witch wants blood - and she sends Suzy out to get it for her. A riot of outrageous SFX, courtesy of Buffy and Blade maestro Steve Prouty, make this sex-filled outing a jaw-dropping delight.

3 out of 5 stars Revived Witch   July 14, 2006

I am a fan of Amy Weber, so I bought this movie. It's her earliest one I can find. She was about age 20 when it was made. I first saw her in "PLAYBOY" Specials about the time the movie was made. Tonya Offer (not Lawson), another "PLAYBOY" Specials model appears. Amy steals the show as a long-dead witch of some sort who is revived by blood from criminals who die at her burial spot after a gunfight with cops in a car chase. Well, there isn't quite enough blood to restore all of her flesh. A dog tries to take a bare leg bone, and she sucks in its blood. Weird effects hide some of Amy's nudity. Tanya unwisely reads from a book of spells, and Amy possesses her. She lures men to be drained of blood for Amy. Oh well, Tanya's abusive lover comes to Indonesia from California and gets what he deserves, before the witch is destroyed. The story is not Shakespeare, but it holds my attention. Anything with Amy Weber nude does. Tonya Offer does not excite me, but Amy is enough. She can look innocent but sexy. It's hard to believe her as a "Wicked Witch".

3 out of 5 stars "Kneel before the Queen, mortal!"   July 21, 2005

After watching Dangerous Seductress (1992) last night, I'm curious as to cinematic guidelines in Indonesia (where the film was made) with regards to the showing of skin, as there were plenty of opportunities to display some much needed female nekkidness, but the movie always stopped just short, which seemed strange especially since there was so much in terms of the objectification of women within the film...as far as the wanton display of violence goes, there seemed to be little restriction on that aspect, given the buckets of blood tossed around throughout...violence good...nekkid women bad...it's a crazy go nuts world we live in...written and directed by H. Tjut Djalil (Mystics in Bali, Lady Terminator), the film stars the buxom, blonde duo of Tonya `38-26-35' Lawson (All Babes Want to Kill Me) and Kristin Anin, whose measurements were unavailable at the time this was written...also appearing is Amy Weber, whom I last encountered in a much worse film than this called Starforce (2000).

The film begins with a police car in high-speed, hot pursuit of three, heavily armed criminals in another vehicle, all wearing pantyhose on their heads, indicating they just pulled some sort of heist. The guy riding shotgun seems visibly upset, especially since he keeps slugging the driver (probably not the best idea, given he's the one driving), and it turns out he's upset because the driver shot a police officer, which, apparently, has now put them in the position of where they are, being pursued by the cops. The bullets fly, various individuals get shot, and the crooks keep changing cars between scenes...er, no, wait...I think we've got some continuity issues here...the car is white, the car is pink, the car is white...whatever...the crooks end up wreaking the car in front of a house occupied by a woman named Linda (Anin), where they eventually bite the big one due to their injuries (and bullet wounds)...leaving behind a severed finger from one of the dead men, as officials clear the scene. Turns out the crooks ended up buying the farm near some ancient burial ground, and their blood, along with the severed finger, has triggered the reconstitution of something evil, some sort of demon/vampire/witch with electric nipples (no foolin'), played by Ms. Weber (watch as a stray dog tries to steal one of her bony legs), who calls herself the Queen of Darkness. Soon after this Linda's having a birthday party in he house, and she's given a gift by a guest she didn't know (he's a friend of a friend) in that of an ancient text about mystic mumbo jumbo...the guy is some sort of archeologist, and found the tome on one of his expeditions...great gift for someone you don't even know, a priceless religious artifact...idiot. Next we go to Los Angeles where we meet Susan (Lawson), who turns out to be Linda's sister. Seems Susan's having relationship problems (her husband/boyfriend/whatever likes to beat on her), so she runs off to Indonesia to stay with Linda. Linda goes off on business, and a bored Susan reads from the ancient text, inadvertently releases the evil spirit which possesses Susan, giving her supernatural powers (think Scott Baio in the movie Zapped!) to which she uses to kill many men in gruesome and usual ways. In the end it comes down to a battle royale (literally) of good against evil...

There is just a whole lot of stuff going on in this film, too bad much of it is unrelated...well, it's supposed to be, but because of a lack of continuity, it can be hard to tell what's going on, how things relate to each other until one of the actors actually says something that gives meaning to the purpose of the scene or the character...for instance, the introduction of Linda's sister Susan. We didn't know who the heck she was, or what her role was, until well after her character appeared on screen. There's a lot of this initial confusion throughout as aspects are introduced with little or no pretext. The acting is pretty lousy throughout, not helped by some especially lame dialog, both being something I pretty much expected, so I can't complain too much. Something I will gripe about is the fact that nearly a third of the movie involved some sort of useless filler sequences (helicopter montage shots, extended disco dancing sequences, models posing for a photographer) so this tended to really drag the film down in some areas, but at least they served well to draw away from the numerous, icky, quasi-sex scenes (Ms. Lawson is shown a great many times in lingerie making out with scrawny men of both Asian and Caucasian decent clad in their tighty whiteys just before she kills them, her being possessed and all...wonderful...her psycho boyfriend/husband had a great build, though). And the women in this film...some were very attractive, but all had the look of being used and abused...damaged goods, so to speak, like the woman who tries to conceal the signs of an abusive relationship by using a lot of makeup. Also, it's good to see horrendous American 80s fashions and music alive and well throughout the world...gee, if there's so much wrong with this film, why'd I give it three stars (actually, I'd go with 2 ½ stars)? Well, I'll tell you...primarily due to the gonzo action and special effects. Some of reasoning or intent may not have made sense, but overall it was entertaining, in a really sleazy, haphazardly sort of way, if you like cheap, American-influenced, gonzo, unstructured, exploitive, Indonesian horror films.

The anamorphic, widescreen (1.85:1) picture provided by Mondo Macabro looks pretty decent, but does show some minor flaws occasionally. The audio, present in Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo comes through relatively clean, equaling the quality of the picture. As far as special features, there is an interview with the director (14:49), an interview with SFX artist Steve Prouty (11:57), SFX commentary by Steve Prouty, a director filmography, a text piece titled Indo Exploitation-from Mystics in Bali to Michael Bay, and also a montage of other Mondo Macabro releases.

    2 out of 5 stars Lame-Oh, but Slightly Humorous   April 14, 2005

It begins with a car chase and full speed, death defying heroics and assault rifles blazing! Neither of which are filmed very well. Then it moves into a horror movie! Then, it becomes a comedy (well, not intentionally). It must be a Midnight Movie!

Essentially, this is a flick about a big breasted babe, who leaves her abusive/rapist hubby, and goes to stay with her big breasted sister in Jakarta. While there, the big breasted babe is left alone in the house with a book of ancient Bali spells, which she uses to summon forth The Queen of Darkness (ostensibly for beauty and seductiveness). In order to get the Queen to give her power, she has to seduce and sacrifice folks, which she does with lusty abandon. Her big breasted sister finds out and returns from her model shoot, to stop the big breasted babe from succeeding.

A little fun, a little tedious but well worth a drinking game: my suggestion, whenever the director decides to throw in a lovely travelogue montage, take a drink and keep going until the panoramic shots are done. You will finish several bottles before the movie is done.

This is the final comment: Dangerous Seductress is an erotic horror picture rated PG-13.

2 out of 5 stars Somewhat Silly   December 16, 2004

This is a film that is not quite sure what it should be. A woman is abused by her boyfriend/husband and flees to visit her sister in Jakarta. Sister is a very successful fashion model. At a party, a friend of a friend gives her a book of ancient magic (Why? I don't know).

When sister leaves for a photo shoot in Bali, the abused sibling finds the book and asks for the power of the Dark Queen. She now sports fangs and kills her lovers. Unlike a vampire, she doesn't use the fangs. Instead the blood shoots out and into her mouth so that she can give it to the Queen.

Well, sister comes home and finds her sister chanting in front of a mirror. Her boyfriend and the book giver unite with her to fight the Dark Queen.

This is a strange film. Not only do we have the vampire that isn't, but we have a believer in the occult just handing out dangerous books to strangers. There is some momentary nudity but it has been obscured by brightly glowing dots (although the trailers go full frontal). I really don't know what to think about this one. I didn't quite like it or dislike it.
