| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Will Farrell followed up his star-making vehicle Elf, which matched his fine-tuned comic obliviousness to a sweet sincerity, with a more arrogant variation on the same character: Ron Burgundy, a macho, narcissistic news anchor from the 1970s. Along with his news posse--roving reporter Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd, Clueless), sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner), and dim-bulb weatherman Brick Tamland (Steve Carell, Bruce Almighty)--Burgundy rules the roost in San Diego, fawned upon by groupies and supported by a weary producer (Fred Willard, Best In Show) who tolerates Burgundy's ego because of good ratings. But when Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate, View from the Top) arrives with ambitions to become an anchor herself, she threatens the male-dominated newsroom. Anchorman has plenty of funny material, but it's as if Farrell couldn't decide what he really wanted to mock, and so took smart-ass cracks at everything in sight. Still, there are moments of inspired delirium. --Bret Fetzer

Stay Classy San Diego! January 3, 2010 Edward Crawford (Randolph, MA United States) It took me awhile to see this movie. Will Ferrell is someone I can take in doses. Usually I have to be in a certain mood to see one of his movies. I kept hearing how Anchorman was such a great film and wondered what the hype was about. Well, the hype is well deserved.
What we get is the fictional story of Ron Burgundy. Swinging newscaster of the 1970's. He dominates the airwaves and has a way with the ladies. However, all this is about to change as the news station is hiring its first female anchor.
There are many great quotable lines in this movie. The humor may seem pure slapstick on the surface, but there are some clever lines going on in this movie. I have to point out that the news anchor gang fight is worth the price of admission.
The supporting cast did an excellent job. Special recognition should go to Steve Carrell for playing Brick (a not so bright character who only seems to know what is going on with the weather), David Koechner for playing Champ (sports anchor with his own special catchphrase), Paul Rudd as Brian (like Ron, also a ladies man and seems to act as Ron's right hand man). Christina Applegate also deserves a big nod for playing the no nonsense reporter Veronica who is fighting for her right to anchor the news.
There are some surprising cameos as well such as Jack Black, Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Tim Robbins and Luke Wilson. They all help to round out the cast as competing news anchors, with the exception of Jack Black as a biker.
There are also some nice special features on the dvd including Will Ferrell in full Ron Burgundy mode doing a mock interview for ESPN in 1979. There is also an interview with Bill Kurtis and Ron Burgundy done in the style of The Actor's Studio. All about Ron's life and career. Also included are may deleted scenes and out takes from the film.
So, enjoy this movie because... When In Rome...... and
Stay Classy Planet Earth!
Anchorman IMDb Review- Class Project. Mass Communication in Modern Society December 15, 2009 William Heatherly When Anchorman came into theaters, I had just turned 13. I was finally old enough to see a PG-13 movie. Most of the jokes were way over my head, but still hilarious. Now when I watch it, I literally have tears running down my face. Anchorman tells the simplistic story of an acclaimed, arrogant news anchor, Ron Burgundy. Burgundy must adapt to his new partner, Veronica Corningstone, who is an attractive female actress. Like any Will Ferrell movie, the content and story line isn't award-winning but the jokes, one-lines, dry humor, unforgettable cameos and the quirkiness of Ferrell and his cast.
Great Movie November 4, 2009 Jojo Collins This was a gift for my granddaughter who tells me it is one of her favorite movies.
WIN November 3, 2009 Jada Drysdale (Kennesaw, GA) Will Ferrel is a comedic genius. Perfectly balancing the slapstick, innuendo, and sarcasm is what he's best at. There's TONS of innuendo, so if you're sensitive or have children...you probably shouldn't watch.
Tons of hilarious one liners and the Afternoon Delight song made me cry from laughing so much.

I bought this DVd for my partner for his birthday , it didnt work in any of our dvd players and we have fairly new ones that cover all regions. then when i looked up a contact to try to return it , this proved hard within itself so gave up - so my experience with Amazon and the dvd was very average and poor.
