I ordered this Beastmaster DVD on Jan 31, 2009. Today is March 3, 2009 and I have yet to receive it. My VISA was charged $15.81 on Feb. 2, 2009. Red Tag Media is certainly one company that is thriving in this poor economy. I will soon go through the proper Amazon process to file a claim.
 One of My All-Time Favourite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Films Just Got a Little Better! February 17, 2009

I remember when I first watched this as a kid I was just blown away with this film that didn't seem to have a boring moment in it and it was like non-stop excitement and I remember also wondering why this was not a hit film at the time. I'd watch this over and over again and yet I'd not get bored of watching it which is saying a lot for a kid's attention span. Now many, many years later I've revisited this film in this dvd format with enhanced DTS surround sound quality and DiviMax 16x9 transfer and I realise that it's still a great fantasy film after all these years. The sound quality is indeed good although not all the frames have been restored as well which is probably due to the deteriorated master tapes but I thought that overall the picture quality was good enough for me. The Special Features are quite good as we get interviews with the cast and the director as they look back on their experiences on the set. There is also a nice write-up by director Coscarelli included on a glossy paper which opens up into a nifty poster of the film.
Some of the most imaginative elements of fantasy are included in the film and among those that I liked the best include the weird bird-like creatures that worship the eagle and that devour their human victims in a truly gross manner and the invading Juns and even the witches borrowed from Macbeth all added to what makes this film so endearing and captivating as a great underrated fantasy film. It's truly commendable what Coscarelli was able to achieve on such a low budget and a curtailed editing room access and hence control. I for one would love to see a true Director's Cut version released with another attempt made at improving upon the remaining deficient picture quality frames on Blu-ray or even standard dvd format.
Till then, this is still a very enjoyable and good dvd version of a fantasy film that brings back fond memories of my childhood for me.

What can be said that hasn't been already. A must for any Sword and Sorcery collection. This movie so well done is a movie I watch often. Great cast and great action movie.
