This is America! We don't have kings! Even for hills! December 22, 2008 G. Flores (Cincinnati, OH) Look,
When I first saw this dvd set I was a little offended because it implies America has a king. Then when I bought this dvd I was greatly offended because I really can't afford a $30 dvd set. Now that I have reviewed these digital vhs disks, I feel better.
isn't the idea about shows like this to be funny? May 8, 2006 mullet (Wisconsin, America) 0 out of 17 found this review helpful
I am not a snotty reviewer who just likes giving 1 star reviews. I was hoping maybe someone could explain to me why this show is funny. I have watched several episodes (mostly because it comes on after Malcolm in the Middle, which i deem to be a far superior show even if its losing steam after 7 seasons) and maybe cracked a smile through a few of them, but i have never, to my recollection ever laughed. I am not too picky with what i watch (except for reality tv which I think is the worst thing to hit America since 9/11). If you want to watch better television that this watch these shows: Frasier, Seinfeld, Simpsons, Family Guy, Malcolm in the Middle, Lost, 24, Prison Break, and that 70's show. But in my humble opinion in order for a show to go on you have to stop trying to be so damn smart (unless your the brilliant Arrested Development, which was unfortunately canceled:() and start trying to be funny. And also the show has way to many touching moments. The simpsons had them but didn't use them too much, and they only work once in a while because no one really cares if a cartoon dad loves his son no matter what, its a frikkin tv show. Anyways, if someone could please politely explain what is so funny about this show, i would appreciate it.
ps. I have looked over all 6 seasons out on dvd and from the amount of reviews i have seen no one else really gives a [...] about the show. I wonder how its still on the air?

Amazon is the best online store you can buy from period. Amazon has the best prices for DVD's and they put sets together that you can buy on sale too.

Mike Judge is a genius. One of the funniest shows in the history of TV is now becoming available on DVD. Sure to entertain everyone as Mike shows another comedic theme that isn't Beavis and Butt-Head or Office Space (both of which are wonderful and extremely funny). Do yourself a favor and watch King of the Hill.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha! August 2, 2005 MortensOrchid (Cleveland, OH) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha! Even a Northern Yankee like me can appreciate King of the Hill, still one of the best shows on TV after all these years. There's a little of Hank, Bill, Dale and Boomhauer in all of us. Hank, the John Wayne voice of reason, Bill, the lonely but lovable loser across the street, Dale, the paranoid conspiracy theorist who has no clue what's really going on, and Boomhauer, the suave lady's man who you can never understand but secretly want to master his secrets. We're all the happy bumbling fools in life, they are all facets of them.
It's a barrel of laughs. The "You Might Be A Redneck If ..." joke never is overblown or too obnoxious. Their adventures are a hoot. Hank and Bobby's relationship is hilarious, as is his marriage to Peg. Always a great time in Arlene.
