"Snowy River: The MacGregor Saga" is one of the all-time great television series. The story line was riveting, and the performances were excellent. I can't understand why it wasn't a bigger success in the US. Anyone interested in outdoors yarns, westerns, or 19th century Australia should see this. Though the show would be of more interest to adults, the content is mostly appropriate for children.
The episodes pretty much stand alone, though there is a long-term story arc that you'll miss out on by lack of DVDs. The series is finally coming out on Australian DVD in two weeks. Perhaps, we'll eventually see it in the US.
