Product Description They're back. And then some. Twelve is the new eleven when Danny Ocean and pals return in a sequel to the cool caper that saw them pull off a $160 million heist. But 160 million doesn't go as far as it used to. Not with everyone spending like sailors on leave. Not with a mysterious someone stalking Danny and crew. It's time to pull off another stunner of a plan?or plans. With locations including Amsterdam Paris and Rome the direction of Steven Soderbergh and the original cast plus Catherine Zeta-Jones and others Twelve is your lucky number.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY UPC: 085393894825 Manufacturer No: 38948
Amazon.com Like its predecessor Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve is a piffle of a caper, a preposterous plot given juice and vitality by a combination of movie star glamour and the exuberant filmmaking skill of director Steven Soderbergh (Out of Sight, The Limey). The heist hijinks of the first film come to roost for a team of eleven thieves (including the glossy mugs of Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Bernie Mac, and Don Cheadle), who find themselves pursued not only by the guy they robbed (silky Andy Garcia), but also by a top-notch detective (plush Catherine Zeta-Jones) and a jealous master thief (well-oiled Vincent Cassel) who wants to prove that team leader Danny Ocean (dapper George Clooney) isn't the best in the field. As if all that star power weren't enough--and the eternally coltish Julia Roberts also returns as Ocean's wife--one movie star cameo raises the movie's combined wattage to absurd proportions. But all these handsome faces are matched by Soderbergh's visual flash, cunning editing, and excellent use of Amsterdam, Paris, and Rome, among other highly decorative locations. The whole affair should collapse under the weight of its own silliness, but somehow it doesn't--the movie's raffish spirit and offhand wit soar along, providing lightweight but undeniable entertainment. --Bret Fetzer

Not a bad sequel May 15, 2009 P. Christie (Santa Fe, NM) I enjoyed 11 and I have to admit the first time I saw 12 I saw it on the tube about a quarter of the way into it. I didn't like it because I couldn't follow it. Once I saw it from the beginning the movie grew on me and I consider it almost the equal of 11.
Better than Ocean's 11 or 13 May 5, 2009 Perry Yoranouw (SF Bay Area, CA) The entire movie may seem contrived and the plot all jumbled up, but that's truly the genius of Soderbergh. All the characters were interesting and there is still enough development in all of them that allowed us to learn more about each one of them, well maybe not the Chinese guy or Frank. The soundtrack is amazing and the part where Toulour uses his skills to steal the egg was excellent. I had to watch it twice before I can really appreciate the one liners, subtle plot twists, etc. I am surprised by the negativity from most of the reviewers, but I think this movie can only really be appreciated by fans of the TV shows 24 or Lost.
Twelve Is the New Eleven? Not Hardly January 11, 2009 SnS (Crossville, TN) I saw Ocean's Eleven, reluctantly, and fell in love. It opened the door for me to be able to tolerate George Clooney and Brad Pitt (although 12 Monkeys and Fight Club continue to be his best work). That being said, Twelve was NOT Eleven. This does not make it bad, just different. The difference though being a rather large one. Instead of one tremendously clever caper, we have three blase ones with alot of down time in between. And herein is where I think alot of people torched this film. They wanted to see the exact same genius of the first script and instead got Ocean and crew palling around Europe. This film is by no means a mind buster, but it IS an enjoyable film with some rather entertaining times and the same type of story one would expect the writers to come up with for this crew. All in all, not the best one out of the group, but I challenge anyone who bashed this film for not being as good as the first one to give me a series of films that consistently IMPROVED upon itself. There have been A LOT of letdown sequels out there, I would not go so far as saying this one was a letdown. Eleven was 5 stars........this one is four, for simply being a fun film as long as you can sit back and not start making Ocean's Eleven comparisons. Sure it bears the namesake, but it is NOT the same film. And honestly, it does a great job showing just how clever Terry Benedict can be as the villain. One of Andy Garcia's best roles, albeit short lived. I got to apologize for reviewing the film itself instead of the product, but I honestly felt this was being unfairly represented by alot of the reviews. Hope this helps give some counterpoint. And FYI, the disk is great I simply wish it had a little more meat. Not alot in the way of extras
Stupid, pointless, and confusing... December 28, 2008 Honest John (Falls Church, VA United States) At first, I couldn't understand how so many highly-paid and famous "stars" would willingly participate in this dud. But then somebody told me everyone in Hollywood is on cocaine which makes everything look great. And as many others have said, they got to celebrate their egos and apparently had a lot of fun at our expense. I guess that explains it. But it's so bad I may just throw it away and save the space in my DVD rack...
3 stars out of 4 December 18, 2008 One-Line Film Reviews (Ann Arbor) The Bottom Line: Though the caper aspects of Ocean's Twelve are rather dissapointing, the amusing character interaction, several hilarious scenes, and an inspired gag involving Julia Roberts make this film worthy of a tepid recommendation.
