Amazon.com essential video This strange, 1985 experiment by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner) starred the up-and-coming Tom Cruise in a fairy-tale world of dwarfs and unicorns and demons. After the horn of a unicorn is broken, darkness and winter descend upon the world. Cruise's character, helped along by a magic sprite played by David Bennent (The Tin Drum), descends into hell to save paradise. This movie is almost a classic case of art direction gone amok. The somewhat amorphous Cruise doesn't lend much dramatic focus or artistic definition, but the drama between Tim Curry's satanic majesty and Mia Sara's character, who becomes a sort of princess of the netherworld, is pretty captivating. A mixed experience all around that makes one wish it had been more successful. --Tom Keogh

Legend June 15, 2009 Elizabeth Barrett Browning (Commerce CIty, CO USA) Was so happy to finally get Legend, the US release. This was the first one I watched and absolutely loved. I have looked for years to obtain this copy and NOT the director's cut. Tangerine Dream made this movie! Had to buy both Director's cut and the US release together, but it was absolutely worth it to get the one I loved.
A classic fantasy movie..must own for your collection!! June 2, 2009 Shuree D. Munden-Wagstaff (Southern California) If this movie doesnt make you believe in fairies and unicorns, good and evil, then there is just no hope for you! You will love this movie if you are a fan of TRUE fantasy!

Bitterly disappointed May 4, 2009 T.I. Inkblood (USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Save your money. This isn't the version of Legend you want, with the Tangerine Dream score. I don't know why they want to cram this Goldsmith crap (it really is quite ghastly) down our throats and I would like to know where we're supposed to get the real Legend. Luckily we can still get the Tangerine Dream soundtrack - used.
