BUY! Very close to Biblical account January 29, 2010 Fredrick L. Murphy (northeastern Ohio, USA) This film is very close (though not perfect) to the Biblical account, and i say "buy it!" My family enjoys watching this film, over and over. Done pretty well, and can be powerful. You will not regret purchasing it, if you like more accurate Biblical films for your collection. Brings the Bible to life, in a way.
Two thumbs up! January 16, 2010 Ronnie (AL) One of my favorites out of the Bible Collection. It sticks the closest to bible, though it is not word for word and it does take some creative liberties. It picks up with depicting a confused Jacob, not really understanding his call in life or hearing from God. If gives a small back drop for Jacob's and Esau's character. In the movie you will see Isaac bless Jacob, Jacob's dream at Bethel, Jacob's, Leah's, and Rachel's relationship, Laban's deceitfulness...Also the part I loved the best is the way they depicted Jacob and God wrestling. I really love this movie. I do want to add, you enjoy it better if you read the bible first.
X rated Bible story ??? December 23, 2009 Plain Servant (Oregon) I agree with the other reviewers regarding Esau using profanity time and time again. Hollywood just can not pass up an opportunity to defile the word of God. Like a few others, my copy went into the trash before any visitors noticed I was in possession of it.
God teaches us lessons in life October 12, 2009 Dorothy L. Hunt (Wilmette, IL USA) Hello, regarding the movie Jacob. In this movie Jacob is the one who talks to God and the one who can heal the sick also, the one whom his mother loves. Esaw is his brother a hunter, and the one whom his father loves. In this movies we are all taught a lesson that if you do something bad the Lord will teach us a lesson. Although as it turns out the Lord was working for the good in this. Jacob learns the value of family and so does Esaw. Jacob put his self in slavery for seven whole years to finally marry the woman he loves. The lord told him that his children will be as the sand so many. That he would have a child from Rebbeca. Rebbeca didn't believe the Lord. She gave her hand maiden to Jacob, because she was jealous of her sister who already had given Jacob 12 children. It goes to say that you must believe in something more than yourself. The Lord is good, and we must believe what he says.
Thanks,
Dorothy
It is ok, better than the other Jacob movies: err I don't think there are many. April 18, 2009 Hans Joppa I watched this last night and overall it was pretty well done, but what bothered me to give it only three stars where the horrible acting that the sons of Laban had in the movie. Also what was really disappointing is that Jacob went straight over to Rachel when it was different in the bible as some of you may know. The running time was sort of sad too, I wish it could have gone on longer and extended but sometimes you just can't. All and all it was much better than watching some of the stuff on television today.
