Amazon.com Don't just think of The Wedding Singer as an Adam Sandler comedy--though it most certainly is that. But also think of it as the tip of the wave of the 1980s nostalgia craze that followed on the heels of the 1970s nostalgia craze. Set in the post-disco, new wave era, the film tells the story of Robbie Hart (Sandler), the king of small-town wedding-band singers, who once dreamt of being a rock star. But his contentment with life shatters when his fiancee stands him up at the altar. After wallowing in self-pity (by musically attacking the next wedding couple he serenades) and swearing off women, he helps a new friend, Julia (Drew Barrymore), get ready for her impending nuptials--only to find himself falling in love with her. If you're a Sandler fan, you'll enjoy him as an actual adult, though a wise-cracking one. And dig all those kooky '80s reference jokes and that greatest-hits-of-early-MTV soundtrack. --Marshall Fine

The Wedding SInger totally awesome edition June 29, 2009 davecat I wanted the wedding singer and didnt realize that the totally awesome edition had different scenes in it then what I saw on the original film on tv movie channels! I dont know if the totally awesome scenes were in the original theatrical version or not but I prefer the REGULAR version that I saw on like HBO or TMC so now basically I need to go out and buy another one of the REGULAR Version!! There is other stuff, or so it says on the back cover, says more primo footage than before, also says 80's mix tapes, Jump to song feature, A back stage look at the wedding singer on broadway, featurette and more! But really how many people bother to take the time to go through all that jibber jabber! Really all I wanted was the original film but I made the mistake of not realizing that the totally awesome edition wasn't the original so I guess it was my mistake. One final thought in closing is that the least they could have done since they took the time to put all this into a dvd is that they could have put the original version in there too, but they probably thought why do that we can make more money by just putting this version on there and if people want the regular they will have to buy that one too!! Well it worked because now I have to go out and buy the original too! I'm always interested in seeing what scenes they didnt put in the original but as a side menu item choice to view only, or like I said if they offer both versions on the same dvd, they didnt do that here!!!
One of the top 5 movies of the decade. June 7, 2009 J. B. (Houston, TX) The wedding singer is a great movie! A nice blend of actors and specially the soundtrack. The pick of certain 80's songs makes this movie awesome!
A classic example of DNR ruining HD video! May 17, 2009 Daniel B. Hitchman (Fort Collins, CO United States) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I would love to give this title 4 stars for content since it's definitely one of Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore's best comedies so far, but once again the ugly face of Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) has reared its head. Though the colorful and vibrant 80's primary palette absolutely pops and is a virtual knockout in HD, and the 24 bit/48 kHz Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track lets the classic pop tunes sound spectacular, while trying to get rid of all traces of grain (which is a natural byproduct of film and contains high frequency detail), some telecine moron also got rid of most or all of the fine detail you would expect from true 1080p video (2 million+ pixels) rendering faces to wax dummy status. Plus, this healthy dose of DNR creates smearing and noise artifacts in moving objects, especially pronounced in close ups. This and the Blu-rays of "Patton" and "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" should be used at all telecine transfer schools as examples of what NOT to do when prepping a film or TV program for HD video. Don't waste your money like I did!
Great movie, but the Blu Ray could have been better!!! May 13, 2009 Jason Pumphrey (Falls Church, Virginia United States) This is one of my favorite comedies, and was suprised to see it on Blu Ray for such a great price,it has great PQ and sound but the extras are seriuosly lacking(with only a featurette about the Wedding Singer Musical and the Theatrical Trailer) with this release especially since it's called the "Totally Awesome Edition"! This has the unrated version which is a few minutes longer than the thaetrical cut. Glad I kept my original 1998 DVD because my family enjoyed the Karaoke Tracks that were included and the 80's Trivia and Photo Gallery,If you have the original DVD my advice is keep it beacuse all those great extars are AWOL with this Blu Ray,with all the space on a Blu disc they could have easily put all the goodies on there, but not this time! 5 stars for the great movie,3 for the Blu ray!

I failed to receive the DVD. Amazon credited my account right away and for this I am grateful. I remain confident that if I use a re-seller through Amazon that I will still be protected. Thanks for that.
