Product Description Tom Selleck stars in this television movie adaptation of Robert B. Parker's novel as New England police chief Jesse Stone. After a serious gig as a top homicide detective in Los Angeles, Stone settles in a small town along the coast of Maine where he leads a relatively simple life. In the predominantly crime-free town of Paradise, Stone tries to minimize the drama in his life by drinking heavily, avoiding his bitter ex-wife, and keeping his new, younger girlfriend at a safe distance. But things for Stone and the other inhabitants of Paradise are thrown into chaos when a dead body washes ashore, and a high school student confesses to being raped by not one, but several attackers. Drawing on his experience as a big city investigator, Stone must find the culprits before his peaceful town turns into the playground of a serial killer.

Great Series June 27, 2009 LDS (Corning, CA) If you haven't already started the Jesse Stone series and like Tom Selleck don't pass these by. I love them. They are a nice change from the Hollywood movie of today with all the fancy digital, but little substance.
Jesse Stone Series "Stone Cold" June 22, 2009 Jutta Q. Enjoyed watching this movie also. Excellent acting by Tom Selleck in his role of Jesse Stone. Would like to recommend the whole series to anyone who likes a good story line and mystery.
Intelligent writing and credible acting June 21, 2009 z hayes (plano, texas) My husband and I are new to the Jesse Stone series of movies, and we were very impressed with the series. We watched "Stone Cold" and proceeded to watch the rest of the titles in the series within a week. The stories are engaging and the writing is intelligent, elevating the movies above just another ho-hum police procedural. In "Jesse Stone: Stone Cold", Jesse Stone [played by Tom Selleck] is the Chief of Police in the small New England town of Paradise, MA. In this first movie in the series, not much background info is given about Jesse, but viewers get the sense that he is battling some personal demons, such as a drinking problem, and also issues with his ex-wife, Jen, who keeps calling Jesse throughout the movie but whom viewers never get a chance to see. Then there are the series of murders that crop up in town - seemingly random targets shot twice in the chest. Jesse suspects serial killers and actually, viewers are clued in early on as to who the perps are. There is also a side story arc about a young teen who is gang-raped by some boys at school and Jesse has to figure out how to bring them to justice. Both these story arcs are neatly tied in, and flow in a seamless fashion. I thought the writing was intelligent - the dialogue is crisp, and Jesse is a man of few words. This is not a shoot em' up sort of movie, but a slowly simmering police procedural that takes its time developing the characters and plot, and the result is a satisfying viewing experience.
1ST OF 6 MOVIES (SO FAR), BUT WATCH THIS MOVIE AFTER Jesse Stone: Night Passage June 3, 2009 couchbum (California USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
"Stone Cold" is the 1st of 6 movies (so far). If you're new to the series, you'll want to watch "Jesse Stone: Night Passage (#2 movie)" first. "Night Passage" shows how Jesse Stone leaves his old job and becomes Chief of Police of Paradise. Although, each movie can stand on it's own, it may help to watch in the order of events. Why the studios made and released them the way they did....who knows! I wont spoil the plot but Tom Selleck plays an excellent chief of police with his take no sh@@ from criminals attitude.
Jesse Stone IV May 30, 2009 Pat Peterson (Bandon, Oregon USA) Another great Jesse Stone epic. I can hardly wait until Hollywood films ALL of Robert Parker's Jesse Stone series.
