Amazon.com Charmed: The Complete Second Season finds San Francisco's favorite and fetching trio of witches, the Halliwell sisters, still battling supernatural forces while trying to make sense of their tricky personal lives. It has been a year since Prue (Shannen Doherty), Phoebe (Alyssan Milano), and Piper (Holly Marie Combs), were each endowed with a unique, magical ability after discovering the Book of Shadows in their attic, and while Phoebe and Piper are in the mood for celebrating, Prue is emotionally incapable of using her telekinetic gifts. Powerless to have saved her ex-lover, Andy Trudeau (Ted King), from death in season 1, Prue's grief prevents her from cooperating with her sisters in a battle against a demon who steals the all-important Book. That's just the beginning of the Halliwells' otherworldly troubles. The second season finds the sisters also taking on brain-zapping Warlocks, a Demon of Hate, a Darklighter who inspires thoughts of suicide among the living, evil witches, and--get this--the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who turn out to be quite dapper (albeit nasty) fellows. Meanwhile, Piper struggles to raise $60,000 to open a happening new club (at a site where two other clubs have failed) while also juggling romantic feelings for two guys, one a hunky new neighbor and the other last season's handyman character, Leo (Brian Krause), who turns out to be a Whitelighter (a kind of an angel). Prue's job at the art gallery gets a bit wobbly, and she gives unintentionally mixed signals to a very nice man who likes her a lot. Phoebe, for her part, is still in school and meets a handsome prospect at a dating service--then has to save him from a succubus (a female demon who seduces men and then kills them). Season highlights include the episode "She's a Man, Baby, a Man," in which Prue--due to a botched spell--becomes a man (a clever and funny performance by Doherty). In a reversal of Tootsie's feminist theme, Prue learns how to be a better woman for having a been a man, though a lot more repairs take place at the house while she's a he. "Animal Pragmatism" concerns yet another spell gone awry, this one turning a pig, a rabbit, and a snake into full-grown men with the characteristics of the creatures they were. The final show, "Be Careful What You Witch For," is a lot of fun, co-starring French Stewart as a genie who makes a lot of mischief at the same time the sisters are trying to put a Dragon Warlock in his place. --Tom Keogh

very good service June 26, 2009 Glenda Hammer (Michigan) I was pleased with the accuracy in which the products condition was described and also the great condition that the the product was actually in, thank you for your services.
Charmed - Season 2 (actually 4.5 stars) June 3, 2009 Geminigirl (Philadelphia, PA United States) Season 2 definitely improved upon the foundation laid by the 1st season! Each sister has an interesting back storyline that ran throughout the season: Pru realized a life long desire of becoming a professional photographer, Piper became a club owner AND experienced a love dilemma having to choose between Leo & Dan and Phoebe returned to college. Also Pru developed a new power, astral projection which definitely added excitement to some of the episodes where the power was featured.
The only complaint that I have about this set is the fact that there are no extras or a "play all" option which would allow greater ease watching the entire disc in one setting.
The skills of all three actresses improved this season as they were able to display greater range in their comedic as well as dramatic acting. I loved that when an episode focused on one sister, that particular actress stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. Of the 22 episodes, I only hate to watch 3: THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC, ANIMAL PRAGMATISM & THE DEVIL'S MUSIC.
My favorite episodes are:
WITCH TRIAL (the season premiere) - a still grieving Pru faces her guilt about Andy's death while the sisters face a powerful demon that resurrects demons they'd already vanquished in Season 1
MORALITY BITES - (Phoebe centered) - when the Sisters use magic to teach a pest a lesson, they time travel to the future to see how the action eventually costs Phoebe her life
P3H2O - the Sisters unearth a secret about their mother's death
AWAKENED - (Piper centered) - Piper's life is in jeopardy and no magical solution is available...or is there?
PARDON MY PAST - (Phoebe centered) - Phoebe's past life warns her about her impending death so she time travels to the past to unravel the clues
CHICK FLICK (one of my all-time faves) - a very clever episode concerning a demon who injects horror movie viewers with rage. I especially love the scenes when the sisters battle the horror stars
MS HELLFIRE - brings back one of my favorite demons, Barbas & a love interest for Pru (Antonio Sabbato as "Bane") - this episode features Pru masquerading as a hit woman to find out who ordered a human to kill the sisters
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WITCH FOR - (season finale) another episode that mixes comedy with the drama so effortlessly. A genie tricks the sisters into wishing so that he can be free with disastrous results. Also Piper goes up in a swirl of lights with Leo and we are left wondering if she will return.
All in all this is a great season which gives me as much enjoyment today as when I initially watched them.
Gets Better By The Season March 14, 2009 Kim Ewell This season is great too. I cried during "Awakened" due to Piper being my favorite Charmed One. As I said in review of season 1, I watched each episode three times. I stretch the viewing out as I don't want to go through the seasons to quickly.
Charmed Series 2 February 25, 2009 Tracy Dietz (San Francisco, CA) Love this series and for only $10!!!! Skips a little but usually costs $60!
I Was Charmed February 10, 2009 Space Opera (New Port Richey, FL USA) Charmed: The Complete Second Season As the title suggests it is a charming series and I believed the second series was the best. In the first season it seemed a bit unfocused and in the later episodes the magic became so commonplace it was no longer a surprise or cause for wonder.
