I bought this DVD to replace my VHS tape. The company that manufactured the DVD must be on some religious crusade, because they edited it significantly. I will never buy anything from that company again. I tossed the DVD and kept the VHS.

Sounded better than it "watched." Interesting concept, but not particularly well-done. Tom Selleck had small part overall. "Stars" were pretty much unknown (at least to me!)
Phyllis Davis Was Fantastic February 20, 2008 Gary L. Dibert (Pittsburgh, Pa) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The picture hit the movie theaters on June 1 1973 starring Don Marshall as AJ, Phyllis Davis as Joy, Ena Hartman as Carmen, Marta Kristen as Lee Phillips, Barbara Leigh as Bunny and Sean Kenney as Bobby. The sate of California as gotten rid of the death penalty so the state would quite putting murders on death row while the tax payers pay for them staying alive. Instead, the state of California sends there murders to Terminal Island where there's no power, no bathroom, no place to sleep or any other modern living items. You live among your fellow murders and you either survive or die. Joy, Lee and Bunny were the only three women on the island until Carmen was sentence to Terminal Island. A prisoner called Bobby runs the Island and his sidekick is an inmate called Monk. Bobby uses the four women prisoners as prostitutes to sleep with, as cows to pull their plows and as house cleaners to wash their clothes. One day while the girls are washing jeans, a man led by a prisoner named AJ. and a group of more free-minded murderers have escaped and gone into hiding. When AJ. and his men liberate the women from Bobby's custody, tensions mount to an all-out confrontation for control of the island. The question now is, how and with what? Now, a few thoughts on the movie itself. I thought the movie got of to a slow start but it picked up steam in a hurry and you never looked back. I thought Ena Hartmen and Barbara Leigh were excellent in there roles as woman inmates. Lee Phillips was great in her role as Lee Phillip especially walking around camp in them tight jean shorts. As for Phyllis Davis, as far as I'm concern she was the star of this picture. Her role as the actress named Joy was fantastic in this movie. Phyllis wore here cut of jean shorts better then anyone else could've in this picture. She had more beauty in this movie then Bunny and Carmen did for sure. Based on Phyllis Davis role alone I give this movie 10 weasel stars and I can watch repeatedly.

Hollywood Hot Shots V. 1 - Double Feature. SHATTERED SILENCE: Michael Douglas and Elizabeth Ashley star in this story about a divorced single mother living with her grandparents in New England. Helen (Ashley) begins to receive calls from what seems to be a prankster pretending to be her son who died fifteen years prior. TERMINAL ISLAND: Four women including Phyllis Davis (Sweet Sugar) struggle to survive on terminal island, a penal colony inhabited by convicted murderers. The depraved men will commit any crime to get at the most important commodity on the island, the women.
Fun guilty pleasure with Barbara Leigh April 1, 2007 GreatMovieCriticForever 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Another one of those prison flicks where there is no law and the prisoners (specifically women) are used as sex slaves. This flick though doesn't have nearly as much sex and violence as other flicks like "Ilsa" or "Deported Women of the SS" but if you're looking to see every type of flick like this then this movie is for you. Barbara Leigh and Tom Selleck head the cast as the prisoners who try to escape the clutches of the demented Bobby. The film is slow in the beginning but builds momentum near the end. The performances are passable enough. Like I said it's not as bloody as the other flicks but it's worth watching if you're a fan of the genre.
