Amazon.com The simple pleasure of watching a living car squirt oil in a villain's face just never goes away. Disney, in their effort to revitalize the Herbie franchise, has made the wise choice of not trying too hard--aside from a small bit of skateboarding action, just about every element of Herbie: Fully Loaded would fit right into the 1963 original (groovily titled The Love Bug) or its various sequels. Maggie Peyton (Lindsay Lohan, the fiery-tressed starlet of Mean Girls and Freaky Friday) wants to join her family's dynasty of race car drivers, but her father (Michael Keaton, Batman Returns) worries that she'll get hurt. Instead, as a college graduation gift, he buys her a junked-out Volkswagen Beetle--which turns out to be Herbie, a car with a mind of its own. Soon Maggie and Herbie are racing against an arrogant racing champion (Matt Dillon, Crash, There's Something About Mary) and duking it out with monster trucks, eventually hoping her father's heart will change. Herbie: Fully Loaded is formulaic fluff, but executed with cheerful enthusiasm; everyone involved has clearly embraced the mix of slapstick hijinks and light family drama. There's even a handful of cameos by NASCAR drivers. The result is every bit as ridiculous yet entertaining as its forebears. --Bret Fetzer
Product Description Maggie Peyton is the new owner of Number 53 - the free-wheelin' Volkswagon bug with a mind of its own - puts the car through its paces on the road to becoming a NASCAR competitor. Herbie's got some new tricks under his hood!

One of Lindsey Lohan's Best Movies January 16, 2009 Kayzrazz (Lebanon,Maine) This movie is one of my all time favorites! It is heartwarming and a joy for all members of the family. Lindsey Lohan really hit the nail with this movie!
Surprisingly Good! Number 53 is back to race again. January 5, 2009 Ramsis Lion (Long Island, NY USA) Herbie is back again, in another in the long line of Love Bug/Herbie related films produced by Walt Disney Pictures. This time our favorite ol white Volkswagen bug with a mind and personality of its own, Herbie, is thrusted into the mid 2000's where things are faster and high paced. The movie stars young female child superstar singer and actress Lindsay Lohan as Maggie. A recent college graduate that has to put aside her dreams of racing in NASCAR due to her father (Micheal Keaton) choosing her brother to be their main racer on the family NASCAR team instead. Maggie's family is falling on hard times as they can't seem to win a race and are losing sponsors left and right. If that wasn't worse they have to deal with the rival racer, who is lighting the NASCAR field by storm winning every race, namely Trip Murphy who is played by Matt Dillon. Her life changes forever when she meets up with an about to be crushed at a junkyard, Herbie who she saves by a stroke of luck and good fortune on his part. Of course things change for her once she learns that Herbie is no regular car. She beats Trip in a street race in Herbie as well as gets closer to a local boy mechanic (Justin Long) who also believes in both her and Herbie to help her reach her dream of being a race car driver. Its a fun movie that kids and fans of all ages really will get something out of, especially to fans of the old series that this is a sequel to. Ill admit I was quite surprised by how good this actually was. I was skeptical at first, bringing back a series like this into todays world is a hard sell, and I'm not the biggest fan of Lindsay Lohan, truth be told, but I have to be fair and say they did a good job with this film. It captured the flavor and feeling of Herbie and has an interesting yet typical story going on in between all of the usual Herbie hijinx mixed in. The film realized we want to see the funny and spunky little car doing his thing, over the flat and predictable cast that is really more along for the ride than vital to it. So situations like Herbie getting insulted by comments and giving his all to win races that he is in over his head on and the new flare they gave him all come off quite well this time around. Its a G movie so you don't have to think too deeply into it. Its a movie just to have fun with the idea of a little car that wants to race and help his new found friend become something as well due to his taking charge of the situation. Its not over the top campy like some of the sequels to the Herbie series seemed to be and its actually a lot of fun. You will find yourself rooting for little number 53 and hating Trip the bad guy who really makes for a great adversary this time around for poor Herbie. A lot may be turned off to the Lohan lead but I always found that the human counterparts to the film really didn't matter. As long as the car is doing his thing how he wants it and its a fun situation we find ourselves in its a good execution of how they went about the Herbie story line. And this film pulls it off quite well. Bonus features on the disk include: Commentary by the Director, deleted scenes, bloopers, music videos and featuretes. Nice little extras to give more than there already is with just the movie. Here is hoping that this isn't the last we have seen of number 53. Because he is here to stay as no matter how old he gets, he just gets better and better. Check it out folks, you may be surprised by how good this actually was.
great movie October 4, 2008 Thomas Lee Mullins (Cranbury, New Jersey USA) It is a great addition to the Herbie movie line. I was not disappointed by it. I named my Smart Fortwo Herb after Herbie. :)
Good family movie and continuation of the series May 30, 2008 R. Winkler (Worcester, MA) As a kid, I loved the Herbie movies, and so I saw this when it first came out in 2005. I highly enjoyed it, and I felt like they stayed true to the character (as much as you can for a car). Highly recommended for families, Volkswagen fans, and kids of all ages.
